Independent Wisdom

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." CONFUCIOUS

INDEPENDENT WISDOM

Tell me and I shall forget

Words are slippery, to my regret

Just another tale that may surface eventually

Not a true source of mine, intellectually

I am apt to remember what I see

But names can escape faces in all reality

So many photos I have in my head

Too many words from books I have read

But let my hands mold the clay

Allow me to trip on the bumps along the way

Wisdom and knowledge are firmly imbedded

Along the path I walk towards the purpose I'm headed

When I have walked the shore

Felt the spray and watched the gulls soar

When the world with my eyes has been thoroughly scanned

Then, my friend, I WILL understand

TRUE WISDOM

quote by Confucius..."By three methods we learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is the noblest; second, by imitation, which is the easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

TRUE WISDOM

From what will all his wisdom come?

Of his self reflection should it be?

Must he learn from what he has said and done?

To alter his true identity?

Such a noble search reflection reveals

A good man will find himself inside

Should he find deeds that are best concealed

Tainted truth can't bring him pride

Is his wisdom a source of imitation?

Just a clone of things he met along the road?

A wise man holds his own revelation

From his own experiences, not what he is told

A great man of wisdom is well traveled and tried

Calloused hands, a tired soul

Wisdom earned from scars inside

A man holding knowledge from actions bold

This Man Obama

" Look at the means which a man employs, consider his motives, observe his pleasures. A man simply cannot conceal himself." Confucius

THIS MAN OBAMA

His words often led to convoluted lies

He was apt to be a bit obtuse

His minions scramble to quantify

As his credibility is often reduced

His motives seemed righteous and in good direction

Are his antics something we wanted to see?

No, we weren't looking for sheer perfection

Just someone we wished our leader could be

What gives him pleasure and satisfaction

Are things that proved not quite our style

His deeds were just a ruse to cause distraction

There is an evil grin behind his smile

He may fool the people who refuse to see

But his trail leaves facts to his reveal

He reeks of a phoney identity

Too blasphemous to forever conceal

His agenda has led us to devastation

While wrapped in a cloak he wooed and charmed

Now we are acting in pure desperation

To right his acts that caused us harm

TIME

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." Henry Van Dyke (1852-1933)

TIME

Ticking ticking ticking

Time is unremitting

For those who are awaiting

An event worth celebrating

Too fast the hands are flying

For those in fear of dying

The clock is hard to face

As our life picks up its pace

Too long the time it seems

When a loss a person grieves

Forever frozen on the day

Your loved one went away

When it is time to raise our voice

At a place where we rejoice

Time is short for celebration

As it cuts short our exhilaration

Yet time will choose to cooperate

When love we all will propagate

An eternity time will give

When we agree to love and live

Progress

I guess he's saying to get to it...not quite sure! If all you can do is crawl...THEN CRAWL...start crawling, but get started with it.

PROGRESS

Be what you are at the stage you are at

Do what you can if you can at least do that

Crawl if you will if it is all you can do

But don't let yourself stall in the present of you

Crawl until you walk when you acquire the skill

Walk until you can run if you have the will

Reach the finish line as a person who has grown

Fill in the gaps questioning the unknown

Time

Khalil Gibran...

"Time has been transformed, and we have changed; it has advanced us and set us in motion; it has unveiled its face, inspiring us with bewilderment and exhilaration."

Time is easily spent, wasted, when we are young and hopeful. It is so much more treasured when there is not so much more of it left in our life account. M. Beatty

TIME

Time...just a word?

The first gift we received upon our birth

So easy to waste

So prone to haste

Not treasured so much when we are young

Time...just a noun?

A commodity not taken for granted

In the twilight of your years

Not easy to surrender

When nearly gone

And memories of the time you spent

Are now approaching midnight instead of dawn

Your Kingdom

Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." Marcus Aurelius

YOUR KINGDOM

Be the knight in armor

Astride a fearless beast

Be the sweating farmer

Who provides the kingdom's feast

Be the crafty magician

Who waves a magic wand

Be the mathematician

Who balances all the odds

Be the jester of the courtyard

Who's humor breaks the tension

Be the one to safeguard

Against those who cause dissention

Be the keeper of your kingdom

And serve your people well

Don't lead them to extinction

Or through the gates of hell

Compromise

Winston Churchill..."If we open a quarrel between past and present, we shall find that we have lost the future."

COMPROMISE

Hold fast to our founding principles

With the greatest of resolve

Go forth with valid changes

So our country can evolve

But make the changes go hand in hand

With what our founders had in mind

We can't argue with our past

And leave the best of it behind

Let not charismatic orators

Convince you of drastic change

For to base our future on  someone's dreams

Is for our heritage to estrange

Speak to the past in terms of respect

For all the good it holds

Agree with the past for compromise

With relevant changes in the fold

Keeping It Real

Life is a gift and the moments with friends and loved ones is worth the bad things that come our way.

If you think of life in terms of smelly, dirty socks you are missing out on a whole great atmosphere of clean fresh air.

If you see only smokestacks and garbage filled streets you have never seen the majesty of mountain peaks

If you have no control over the directions of your thoughts and perceptions

You are destined to live in the dump in which you let your mind put you.

BLESSINGS

Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing, or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort that life implies." Erich Fromm

BLESSINGS

Can a moment of despair erase a lifetime of dreams, come true?

Can one bad day overshadow your many days in the sun?

Can one person's ugly words belie the friends you always knew?

Will one failure leave you feeling your many accomplishments undone?

Will negatives in your thoughts impact the positives around you?

Can you be the only one yourself is constantly contesting?

Then take a moment and let the miracle of God's creation astound you

It's time to absorb your many blessings.

I Once Was

"Everybody needs his memories. They keep the wolf of insignificance from the door. Saul Bellow

I ONCE WAS

Today I am just me

In a place not chosen to be

Just where I landed, not in my dreams

So insignificant, it seems

Just one of many, average at best

Not the worst, but beneath the rest

No one inspires to be like me

In a massive forest an average tree

Alone in my darkness of near despair

I find my memories lurking there

It appears to me I've had my turn

And lived my life from stem to stern

Only insignificant in my own mind

Even though the best I've left behind

That's why memories were invented, you see

To prove your status in society

I once had my chance to shine

Now it's my time to move aside

I accept I peaked and that's because

I'll always have memories of what I was

Waste Not

"Every man dies. Not every man lives." William Wallace

WASTE NOT

All the splendid colors I've seen

All the warm fresh air I breathed

All the vigorous chill I felt

Waiting for the snow to melt

All the spring flowers I have viewed

Things I could, not just what I should

All the summer's vacation spots

What I did, and not did not

I've thought of death from time to time

But mostly it was quite sublime

I have a plateful of life to taste

A not a precious moment to waste

Discovering My Purpose

Henry David Thoreau...

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

DISCOVERING MY PURPOSE

I did not come to this meadow

To languish without thought

I came to find my way

In the lessons I was taught

I did not enter the forest

To find darkness among the trees

I came to find some solitude

And hope God would hear my pleas

I did not climb the mountain

To prove I was the best

I sit here atop this mountain

Because I passed my private test

I did not wade into the ocean

For the tide to sweep me away

I went to catch a massive wave

And return to face my day

I did not enter this world

To wait my way through life

I came to live it fully

Through pleasure and through strife

I will not walk into the desert

To find a place to die

Just to find me looking back

At a life that was a lie

Fate

Buddha...

"I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act."

That's what I'm talking a out! Action equals reaction. Is the reaction fate?

I guess I am overthinking fate and choice. To me it is like the who's first, the chicken or the egg?  Impossible to answer except for with the belief we are all God's creations the chicken had to come before her offspring, the egg.

FATE

Are we to not ever meet our fate

Should not a step we dare to take?

If we remain idle would fate seek us out?

Is it predetermined without a doubt?

Can fate be avoided with choices made?

Or with the words we often prayed?

Were we destined to find a particular romance?

Were we born to meet a circumstance?

Perhaps what refalls us is meant to be

Simply put, our destiny.

What will happen will be without a notion

Or was it a choice that set it all in motion?

THE TRUTH OF MORTAL FREE WILL

Here is a quote to ponder...

"If there was no free will in men, then there is no sins. When sins happened, it was free will that made them doable. This is true, unless God has predestined humans to do and to have sins." Toba Beta author of MASTER OF STUPIDITY.

THE TRUTH OF MORTAL FREE WILL

God made us in His image, true

But let our hearts and souls be our own

Our course in life and what we do

Are mortal traits not set in stone

The gift of free will that formed a person

Results in goodness, but also of sin

No one's character is for certain

The result of a mortal is where he's been

Had God withheld us of free will

Goodness in all would be self contained

Our righteousness would need no skill

And in God's image we would all be saints

The Hungry Child

"When the state or federal government control the education of all our children, they have the dangerous and illegitimate monopoly to control and influence the thought process of our citizens." Michael Badnank

THE HUNGRY CHILD

I'm a hungry child for knowledge I crave

I'm programmed to learn from cradle to grave

With all my heart I beseech thee

Be diligent and please teach me

Teach me the truth of my history

Don't leave my past a mystery

Let me know how to add and divide

I want to speak well and have some pride

Please don't soak with me with your ideology

Let me choose the course of my theology

You'd have my sincere appreciation

If you would refrain from more indoctrination

I am the future and beg to reach thee

Please make it true what ye shall teach me

God presented you children, fresh and bold

The brightest future for which to behold

Heart Over Mind

"When dealing with people, remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion." Dale Carnegie

HEART OVER MIND

It has been my insight in reference to human emotion

The mind is so easily manipulated, so drawn to irrational commotion

Even the brightest of all humanity

Can have his heart interfere with his own reality

The mind that holds the key to his logic, I fear

Is manipulated by love and hate, it's clear

Would a heart which deep in darkness swings

Induce the mind to evil things?

Crooked Politicians

"These things will destroy the human race: politics without principle, progress without compassion, wealth without work, learning without silence, religion without featlessness and worship without awareness." Anthony de Mello (1931-1937) A priest and psychotherapist from Mambai, India

CROOKED POLITICIANS

Have ye no principles, Mr. Politician?

How can your misdeeds make your country strong?

You are tearing down the foundation it was founded upon

Am I wrong?

How can you move us forward when you have no compassion?

Does not the pursuit of happiness ring true in your mind?

Your selfish votes show inhumane disregard

How can you be so unkind?

Does the wealth that you gain off the back of constituents

Cause you joy without regret?

You were chosen to represent us, not steal from the people

How soon did you forget?

Yet there you sit high in life so superior

Having sworn on the Bible to serve

You've prospered from your seat of representation

Sir, have you no honest nerve?

The Poet In Me

"Poetry may make us from time to time a little more aware of the deeper, unnamed feelings which form the substratum of our being to which we rarely penetrate ; for our lives are mostly a constant evasion of ourselves." T.S. Eliot

THE POET IN ME

I have a mirror in my life that shows my reflection

My words are the self portrait I paint

My awareness is intense as I grasp for a sentence

That portrays me as a failure or a saint

My mind wraps around the letters that form

The words I construe to be

The story of my will, wants, needs, and beliefs

I am grateful for the poet in me

My Path

"When one has the feeling of dislike for evil, when one feels tranquil, one finds pleasure in listening to good teachings; when one has these feelings and appreciates them, one is free of fear."

MY PATH

I am the one to reject evil

Goodness makes my life  serene

I have no use for the devil

And avoid the nasty and mean

Tranquility in my life is my peace

What I learn from the masters I treasure

I appreciate what life has to teach

Nature as a whole is my pleasure

When negative temptation stands before me

I just turn and walk away

I'm aware enough to recognize the evil I see

And strong enough to keep it at bay

Although fear is a commonality of man

There is no reason to hand over control

Courage need not be an extraordinary stand

Just enough to keep cowardice from your soul

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT EVIL

Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster." Sun Tzu

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT EVIL

There will always be enemies among us

And battles to be waged

It is up to the people to know

When to stand down or engage

Would we be best to stand our ground?

When should we attack?

Will the threat before us wane

And we should be holding back?

It is best to know our enemies

Put ourself into their shoes

Before we point our fingers

Threaten or accuse

Some battles are won with force, you see

Most are won with detente

Understanding an enemies capability

Is knowing what we are not

While We Looked Away

"The state can be and has often been in the course of history the main source of mischief and disaster." Mises

WHILE WE LOOKED AWAY

The truth is there's a need

For the government our forefathers created

But to make the republic succeed

Small government is celebrated

We the People at our best

Had our eyes on legislation

But now we're in a mess

With apathy and indoctrination

The truth is we lost sight

Of the duty to oversee

A powerful government might

Encroach upon our liberty

While we looked away

Progressive politics began to spread

The future is in decay

And chains are ours instead

Lies and Empty Promises

"The man who promises everything is sure to fulfill nothing, and everyone who promises too much is in danger using evil means in order to carry out his promises, and is already on the road to perdition."

Lies are a poor foundation for success. Empty promises are a box full of defeat. The liar will eventually fall as the foundation based on lies collapses.  And no matter how far he carries the box full of empty promises, in the end the box will still be  empty and the liar will be disgraced. M. Beatty

Obamahope & Change

Socrates said..."False words are not only evil in themselves, but they infect the soul with evil."

OBAMAHOPE AND CHANGE

He came upon the scene riding high

On a pleasing personality

People fell in love with his demeanor

But inside him hid a dark reality

Words of hope and change were tossed around

Promises the people would embrace

But in office there was was no hope just drastic change

His actions put our country in disgrace

The lies he told we wanted to believe

But his actions led us toward a bitter goal

An inept leader Obama proved to be

His ideology planted evil in his soul

Cover-ups and lies a daily matter

And his minions rallied around him in the task

The country is teetering on collapse

There are no answers to the questions that we ask

Scandals became abundant in public view

Confront him, he says it isn't so

When proven wrong  without a doubt he always says

It was never his intent, he didn't know

More and more his agenda is in peril

And there is hope he might not achieve his final goal

Can we rebound from eight years of total chaos?

Or will this country forever feel it's final toll?

The People in the Distance

Plato: "The price of apathy toward public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."

THE PEOPLE IN THE DISTANCE

The joy of liberty now so immediately in peril

Ignorance and apathy still prevail

The people watching at a distance say

"It's just another period of hard times"

Nothing can befall the most powerful of nations

That would bring her to her knees

The people watching at a distance say

"Let the patriots do their duty, we'll be fine"

As the evil men elected settle in

And transform our beloved country into a cowering welfare state

The people watching at a distance say

"Where is my freedom? This place is no longer mine!"

Economy crashed and irreparable

Jobs at a premium while fat cats sit in power

The people in the distance say

"Who let this happen? Where were the signs?"

Letting Our Legacy Die

We have the greatest opportunity the world has ever seen, as long as we remain honest--which will be as long as we can keep the attention of our people alive. IF they once BECOME INATTENTIVE to public affairs, you and I, and congress and assemblies, judges, and governors would all become wolves." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

LETTING OUR LEGACY DIE

It is easy to become complacent, I know

As opportunities come more often than they go

But the wolves are always out there

Glaring eyes in a hungry stare

Waiting for the winds of dissension to blow

Americans have always had an edge, you see

Living lives of liberty

With freedom taken for granted now

The wolves bare their teeth with a menacing growl

Just waiting for their own opportunity

There have always been traitors among our own

Socialist tendencies for which they're prone

Infiltrating our government with campaign lies

And we are too gullible to scrutinize

They grow their government on testosterone

How far do we as people fall

Before someone picks up the ball?

Unquestioned trust will do us in

The overthrow is genuine

And we missed it written on the wall

Too late the reality is in store

In tears the people have shown remorse

But our legacy has forever died

And now the people's hands are tied

The Constitution is no more

The Obama Legacy

People are afraid to speak up for fear of being labeled by the radical left as a racist or as an obstructionist. Anywhere where they can not present a fact to support their argument they will bring out the mud balls and start tossing away. J.T.DIxon

The most obvious reflection of a liar is the vulgarity of the names he calls his opposition instead of standing fast on his facts. M. Beatty

Promises without the reward are uncovered when derogatory labels are all that the liar has left to give. M. Beatty

THE OBAMA LEGACY

He won the election based on promises sold

Gained a following with the lies that he told

Used his trickery to pass his laws

Enacted his mandates to strengthen his cause

He showed his true colors when schemes were exposed

More and more of the people want him deposed

The scandals he covered up caused such division

Finally the people realized the danger of his vision

He dropped like a bomb in the polls that were taken

No longer trusted, this president was forsaken

The goals that he had were now clearly a bust

His power fell fast when his plan turned to dust

WE WON'T BE SILENCED!

a word from supreme court justice William O. Douglas...

"Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversion. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us."

Once the government can silence the people and defame their truth it will control the people and own the country. M. Beatty

WE WON'T BE SILENCED

Decry my words and stifle my warnings

Call me a traitor, a racist, a bigot

Once you have stopped the flow of my truth

You'll be the one in control of the spigot

But as long as I can stand and have half a mind

I won't be falling for your lies

And there will be others standing in my line

And we'll protect our liberty with our battle cries

Mindless Games

Quote from Voltaire..."It is clear that the individual who persecutes a man, his brother, because he is not of the same opinion, is a monster."

Those who throw negative labels at people who do not share their opinion are just afraid their own opinion won't stand up to a debate. M. Beatty

MINDLESS GAMES

Place your labels on me, if you must

It is because your own ideals you really mistrust

Call me a bigot, a racist, any derogatory name

It's only the truth you defame

Tell everyone I am the one to hate

It's because your ideals can't stand up to debate

You are not the Teflon you think you are

And the lie you ride is just a falling star

Social Justice...the Life Sentence

"I am certain that nothing has done so much to destroy the juridical safeguards of individual freedom as the striving after this mirage of social justice." Friedrich August von Hayek (1899-1992)

SOCIAL JUSTICE...THE LIFE SENTENCE

Born in a world where rights were king

And taught by my parents the best to bring

Working my mind overtime to make the grade

Preparing for success once my bed is made

Then progressive politicians were handed the deck

And all I can do is bet or check

Anything left I am mandated to share

With those who had no intention to get anywhere

Everyone knows social justice is an impossibility

When there are only a few who take responsibility

Status is made by the people who earn

And work their days while at night they learn

Social justice is a jail of sorts

Mass life sentences without a court

For those with no will the fact remains

They are oblivious to their ball and chain

Ain't No End Until the Game is Done

"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." Elie Wiesel

Even of you are trapped in a pit of wild tigers and know your fate you won't go out without a fight. M. Beatty

AIN'T NO END UNTIL THE GAME IS DONE

When your brakes fail at the top of a mountain

And you have nowhere to turn

There ain't no one sittin' in the car who are doubtin'

In the end they will crash and burn

But until the end is inches away

Your feet are a pumpin' that brake

And even the passengers can't look away

Still prayin' to God for Heaven's sake

When a crooked politician is elected

And the congress is on his side

You are stuck with who is selected

But you still can't run and hide

There is always a chance in hell

That a patriot can find a way

To find more like him to answer the bell

And rush in to save the day

There ain't no end until the game is over

If you keep bettin' until you're broke

There is no truce until you run for cover

And the final word is spoke

A Mind Lost

"Every mind was made for growth, for knowledge, and its nature is sinned against when it is doomed to ignorance." W.E. Channing

A MIND LOST

Oh, what a gift we have

With a mind like a sponge

That has an infinite capacity

For the knowledge we indulge

Yet how many choose to waste it

Absorbing stories that have no facts

Learning wrong directions

And holding them intact

How many of us waste the space

Of the mind that should be used

Failing to absorb the truth around us

And hoarding lies accrued

Rejecting vital information

Meant to self improve

A mind is a terrible thing to waste

On what God would disapprove

Smart Ass

.Mark Twain once said that "The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so."

SMART ASS

So you think that you're the smart one

With a mind that's fit to go

You've filled yourself with knowledge

And think you're in the know

But in reality

All you have to show

Is the bull crap that gets spread around

That clearly isn't so

Armed and Ready

Lao Tzu...."People are difficult to govern because the have too much knowledge."

ARMED AND READY

We the People who stand on our rights

Shall be the ones forever to defend them

As long as we maintain the truth

Before a government can amend them

But we must always realize

To prevent a life of bondage

We should uphold a keen intelligence

And be armed with continuing knowledge

Private militia and arms at hand

May be a form of self defense

But all the guns and ammunition had

Are only effective with common sense

The Key to Goodness

Socrates... "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."

THE KEY TO GOODNESS

Beat, my heart, drive the blood

The sustenance of life and body

Feed my mind so that I might

Nourish it with knowledge

Be not, my heart, to let me be

One to waste my vital consciousness

To be one who will linger in

The darkness known as ignorance

Restricted

Dr. Dyer said...Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life as you choose. Anything less is a form of slavery."

RESTRICTED

It is reasonable to accept some laws

Meant as guidelines for a civilized society

But when government mandates restrict my will

It is apt to increase my anxiety

When free market becomes a directive

That limits my self respect

When the government boot leaves prints on my neck

That, my fellow countrymen, I refuse to accept

When my life becomes a humongous glass slide

Under our own government's microscope

When laws are made by executive order

My tolerance  level goes beyond how I cope

If government has become my master

Is it not slavery to their cause?

It is then I will fight the proverbial chains

And I will choose to disobey their laws

That Would Be Me

"Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him." Wayne W. Dwyer

THAT WOULD BE ME

I'm not the rainbow of colors in the mist you see

Nor am I that proverbial pot of gold

The storm and it's aftermath is not my creator

How I handled its wrath, now that would be me

I was never the sun, I was never the moon

I was never the victim of circumstance

I'm who was standing here after the fact

With my character revealed, now that would be me

GIVING UP?

"You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you." Brian Tracy

GIVING UP?

When life has you by the throat

Or your future is out of reach

Time has become the master

You have submitted to its siege

When you are cowering in the corner

Finding life too hard to face

Or your back is up against the wall

In the darkest time or place

You have surrendered to the moment

That had you on the run

You have stopped and turned around

To admit you're finally done

As time looks at you the loser

It begins to point and laugh

You realize your courage

Had at times been understaffed

You call in reinforcements

Of any courage you can find

Realizing the brutality of life

Was just a state of mind

Without a Map

"So they got us surrounded, GOOD! Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards won't get away this time."

WITHOUT A MAP

I ran in one direction

From perceived enemies of mine

It proved to be a dead end

Because I didn't see the sign

I sprinted off to find the way

Again another wall

I circled back around again

In a ravine I took a fall

I climbed out on my hands and knees

Accepting every branch

I went too far and lo and behold

I didn't have a chance

I stopped to take a breath

And take some time to think

I was offered a juicy apple

What looked like some kind of snake

I got my wits collected

I turned and walked away

I asked for some direction

When I found the chance to pray

Immediately a door was opened

I was invited to step in

I was offered quiet respit

From the times I chose to sin

At worst my time was wasted

On so many thoughtless turns

At best I found the high way

In the lessons that I learned

I had begun my journey

With no guidance from above

The only map I needed

Was to reach out for His love

So Sophisticated

Leonardo DaVinci once said "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

SO SOPHISTICATED

Your tee shirt and jeans

If not in imitation

By all means

Is your sophistication

It is better than threads of gold

Adorned on the phoney

And better to ride a common horse

Than a lavish wooden pony

Celebrate the Simple

"There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth." Tolstoy

CELEBRATE THE SIMPLE

Celebrate the simple

Relax in quiet respit

Relish all the goodness

Reject what makes us desperate

Embrace what to be true

Cast away the lies

Let the best in life be you

And not some convoluted disguise

WISHES ARE FOR THE YOUNG

"Not until we are forced with a crises or sadness do we begin to remember that if we only laughed a bit more, loved a lot more, and felt the simplicity of loving ourselves-just a little more...this day would be the greatest day ever." Lee Pryke

WISHES ARE FOR THE YOUNG

It came to me one day

In the most painful diagnosis

For long I could not stay

Was the final sad prognosis

I wish I would have laughed harder

I wish I had loved a lot stronger

I should have been a self starter

I wish I could have lived longer

Wishes are for the present

For future wants and desires

Not for a convalescent

With the reality of waning fires

Be the best, live the most

I wish I had been the one

To laugh and sing and make a toast

Before my time had come

K.I.S.S.

Leonardo DaVinci once said

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

K.I.S.S.

Machines are roaring in my head

Traffic is at an all time high

Stopping and starting and speeding and stalling

People always screaming "Let me by!"

My cell phone follows me everywhere

If has become an extension of my very being

Texting and calling and status updating

How much of my life is it stealing

Nature is left to be viewed

On a screen in a room indoors

Games are now left to be played

On the same screen as nature, of course

What has happened to hiking and playing in the the woods?

Does anyone play hide and seek anymore?

Have we left behind all the living we should?

Has technology put us behind closed doors?

It Is We Not Me

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow man. Herman Melville

IT IS WE NOT ME

It's not ours to hoard as our own

Our influence is ours to share

If it is one thing that should be known

Our life is everyone's just by being there

The threads are much stronger than they seem

And they tangle with each life we touch

Things mix in the water while moving downstream

Intermingling our moods and our ideals and such

Unity is a fact of life we should know

To each is not truly our own

Gathering facts and lies as we go

We are all everyone when we finally have grown

In the Distance

To know how to grow old is the master work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living. Herman Melville.

IN THE DISTANCE

Something in the distance was never on my mind

I was too busy being vital and young

Life was so livable, love was so givable

Stars were reached for and bells were rung

Something in the distance grew nearer in time

When responsibilities were at the height of my existence

Life still a pleasure, family a treasure

I could see it approaching but showed my resistance

Something that had been only slightly on my mind

Found its ways into my thoughts each day

Aching bones and a slowing steps reminded me

The truth of my demise was inching its way

It is very near now and I find myself wondering

Did I make the best of what time had to give?

If there is one legacy I want to leave behind

It is to be, enjoy, love life, and live

I Have Found My Bliss

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I love most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person. Audrey Hepburn

I HAVE FOUND MY BLISS

Eureka! I have found the cure!

The elixer that helps me now endure

The pitfalls that life throws my way

The events in which I have no say

Alas I've discovered a lasting truth

Like life inside the kissing booth

Is this a simple cure that finally found me?

Humorous people all around me

Progressives in Charge

ROBERT GREEN INGERSOL. He was a lawyer and lived 1833-1899.

I will not attack your doctrines or your creeds if they accord liberty to me. If they hold thought to be dangerous...if they aver that doubt is a crime, then I attack them one and all, because they enslave the minds of men.

PROGRESSIVES IN CHARGE

I was born in the great USA

With a promise of liberty

Unfortunately I failed to realize

Freedom can be vandalized

It can too often be undermined

By voters of the ignorant kind

The apathetic and misinformed

They contribute to a country torn

Original thought is frowned upon

They took our ideals and banned our guns

They stole our souls and muddied our minds

Transparency? No, now we're blind

Doubt in our leaders becomes a crime

More forced to live on government's dime

We've lost our face in foreign lands

And we are forced to bow to their demands

Candidates spouting hopeful lies

Are American patriots in disguise

Backed by Socialists with pockets deep

Promise to provide our bed and keep

They swear that the rich owes our existence

The lazy offer little resistence

Too many seek the easy road

And accept the socialists lies as told

Our Republic was grown on blood and sweat

Open to opportunities for all to get

Hope has been traded for a welfare state

And our liberty is now at stake

Diminishing success has come our way

The government's growing day by day

Patriotic songs cannot be sung

Our legacy is dead and gone

Grace

Of all of the characteristics needed for both a happy and morally decent life, none surpasses gratitude. Grateful people are happier and grateful people are more morally decent.

GRACE

Selfishness will rot your soul

So I am told

Selflessness is a characteristic

Worth it's weight in gold

Loathing is an acid

That burns you from inside

Loving is an attraction

You'd never want to hide

Hate is an emotion

Of judgements deem unjust

Respect is much preferred

Than to live with bitter mistrust

Chaos brings your kingdom down

No one runs to you with aide

Harmony brings true friendship

Your dues are always paid

Greed may bring you assets

That you never want to share

Charity gives you that feeling

Of forever answered prayer

The unthankful live in loneliness

For entitlements they think they earn

The grateful live as self assured

Taking heed of lessons learned

Perspective

Given the amount of unjust suffering and unhappiness in the world, I am deeply grateful for, sometimes ever perplexed by, how much I have been spared.

PERSPECTIVE

I've lost friends and jobs and money for sure

I've broken mirrors and crashed a car

I have loved and lost and loved again

I've traveled near but not too far

I've been audited and charged too much

And I have suffered financial strife

But all this is so miniscule

When you visit another's life

They have seen the suffering of people they love

From cancer and other disease

The cars they crashed caused injury

Their audits proved deceptive and had their assets seized

The love of their life had cheated

And kept them from their kids

They mourn the one they lost so young

To a malady known as SIDS

There are those who have lost possessions

When hurricanes took the home they shared

And the devastation divided them

From anyone who cared

When I see how others have suffered

And have managed to bounce back

The insignificance of my self proclaimed tragedies

Makes it easier to adapt

I have become forever grateful

For blessing too many to count

And live with hope and pray for those

Who have futures full of doubt

Showing

JFK:

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

SHOWING

As I am grateful for the blue skies that cover my best times

As a ceiling to my paradise

I relish the rain for it freshens my meadows

I awaken to a blazing sun and rise

The winds move through to dry the dew and cool me

My friends gather with me for camaraderie

My family's always close in some sort of way

I appreciate it all abundantly

I live my life for the love of nature

I walk the paths pointed by God's sign

I'm thankful and I show it by being someone who

My actions are righteous by design

WHO YOU ARE

The quote is from Lord Acton. (1834-1902)

Opinions alter, manners change, creeds rise and fall, but the moral laws are written on the table of eternity.

WHO YOU ARE

Think and say it

Change your mind

Believe it or not

Accept, decline

Be couth or not

In or out of place

Appease or mock

Define your taste

Be whatever

Warm or cold

But be true forever

To your moral code

The Easy Way

The path of the least resistance is the path of the loser.

H.G. Wells (1866-1946)

THE EASY WAY

Yes, you may get there sooner than most

What have you missed by speeding through your life?

Just seeing the rest of us straggling in may make you boast

You laugh at the barriers along the way that caused us strife

But on your limited access highway, what have you seen?

Who have you touched along the way?

Does it really matter to you the lack of places you have been?

Didn't you ever want to linger somewhere one day?

Was it really to your benefit not to be weighed down?

Most obstacles build character, who are you?

Whatever was before you, you found your way around

Avoidance was your purpose in everything you'd do

I may have finished later having relationships to bear

The obstacles were challenges of interest to me

I would rather have loved and lost than to never have cared

You may have finished first but I passed the test, you see.

The easy way ain't the best way if you want to be  someone

What you see each time around the block gets more intense

The long way ain't the worse way if you want to get things done

I'd never have survived with no suspense

It Is Treason!

The quote is from Napoleon Bonaparte, another dictator... (1761-1821) I think these words of Napoleon could actually be what Ahmadinejad might be saying because of his “sweet” deal with Obama.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

IT IS TREASON!

In all Obama has said and done

The most destructive days have now begun

A most dangerous step he now has taken

With the country who actually calls us Satan

He shook hands with a man most vile

To limit him for the littlest while

It will open the future to devastation

That could lead us all to desolation

Of all Obama's destructive political acts

This one may be impossible to counteract

He has made us and our allies targets to be

In front of all the world to see

They may cover up his domestic schemes

And whittle our country's self esteem

But now he is sleeping with a terrorist supreme

It is an act of treason by any means

Grace is not a Little Ditty

GRACE IS NOT A LITTLE DITTY

Grace is not a little song

To sing when you feel needy

It is not the excuse for wrong

Or what to lift when you need pity

It's the way of life you are expected to embrace

Not moments of embarrassment you feel are unfair

It is forgiveness, tolerance, and show of faith

Grace is the humility you are expected to share

Imperfection

Learn to...be what you are, and learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not. (Henri Frederic Amiel)

IMPERFECTION

The innocent youth that was my foundation

Had not the strength to keep me pure

It comes to prove with each child's creation

Circumstances makes that innocence more and more obscure

I was not to grow into a perfect being

I rejected some things that we're vital in some respect

As I looked ahead I was clearly not seeing

What I should have embraced, what I failed to reject

It took too many years to accept the flaws

That marred my person but grew my character

Nature itself has its blame in the cause

That leads to perfection's barrier

It is in maturity I now understand

That to shed the flaws that do me harm

I must display the good to countermand

What the serpent impressed on me with his charm

By the Grace of God

I do not at all understand the mystery of grace...only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us. (Anne Lamott)

BY THE GRACE OF GOD

Whatever it was that happened that day

It was the grace of God that came my way

In all I hoped and what I feared

His tolerance and forgiveness he so easily shared

In the little faith I held before

God still found me behind the skeptic's door

He lifted me up until I was steady

And stood by me until I was ready

What He left that day is hard to describe

But what I left behind was foolish pride

Now grateful pride will follow me forever

And the Grace of God shall leave me never

The State of Grace

The ideal man bears the accidents of life with dignity and grace, making the best of circumstances. (Aristotle)

THE STATE OF GRACE

Family, friends, life itself are what are known as typical blessings

Happiness, health, love, of course are a welcome second helping

Children, wealth, longevity are a bonus to those who qualify

Politeness, generosity, tolerance forgiveness is our key to harmony

Loneliness, disease, and a span of pitfalls are the tragedies we all must fear

Loss and suffering may come our way and it is oh so hard to bear

The spirit, love and mercy from God are the lift that help us cope

It's the grace of thanks and the need for others that is our only hope

Lies Uncovered

LIES UNCOVERED

It is almost laughable what politicians say

With their definition of transparency.

They state what should be flushed away

Hoping you believe the lies another day.

They think you will accept all they spout as fact

Because you believe who you elect

The lies are oh so neatly stacked

And thought as truth in some respect

But respect is soon to be their loss

As truth bubbles to the surface

People will realize they
have been double crossed

And what was said was far from earnest

The lies uncovered stink like death

Aren't we amazed that we believed them?

This administration exhaled them with every breath

And we accepted as we breathed them

Transparency Part Deux

Transparency is not about restoring trust in institutions. Transparency is the politics of managing mistrust.

TRANSPARENCY PART DEUX

Transparency is a fallacy

In this administration

It's really quite a fantasy

Of Obamas own creation

Look into his eyes

They appear to be quite dead

His mouth dispenses lies

In most everything that's said

His mirror tells him he is amazing

But his window is completely frosted

His media keeps praising him

Obama can't be trusted

The only thing transparent

In the Obama administration

Is it's becoming quite apparent

Truth is lost in his translation

TRANSPARENCY?

TRANSPARENCY?

Didn't he once say

Could be more than that

"Our whole philosophy is one of transparency."

Another promise that fell flat

I heard his lips distinctly

"If you like your policy keep it"

Another sign of dishonesty

If it's a lie he is sure to speak it

He lied about Benghazi

Is Bin Laden really dead

His hot air blows quite gusty

On everything that's said

The troops are coming home

We have no need to spy on you

Fast and furiously guns have flown

Of course he never knew

If Obama's glass is transparent

The frost is very thick

It has become to me apparent

This president's mind is sick

As We Critisize the Constitution

JFK...

There are so many people in the world who really don’t understand or say they don’t.....what is the great issue between the free world and the Communist world? Let them come to Berlin!

AS WE CRITISIZE THE CONSTITUTION

What is not to understand?

They complain daily of our chosen land

Change is what is in demand

While their heads are firmly in the sand?

Freedom has been a promise

For every Constitutionalist

Yet we elect the most dishonest

And have tyranny upon us

We will question every trend

Success we've yet to comprehend

Entitlements they will now defend

Go, my friends, and view Berlin

Ask Not

John Fitzgerald Kennedy which he said in 1960, the year he became President.

We stand today on the edge of a new frontier...the frontier of the 1960’s...a frontier of unknown opportunities and perils...a frontier of unfulfilled hopes and threats.

ASK NOT

Let us look into a vision

Through the eyes of JFK

The new frontier he faced

With the games that people play

The fifties were behind him

Ozzie and Harriet, Rock & Roll

The space race was emerging

USSR had lost control

TVs in the classrooms

To watch the rockets soar

Missiles down in Cuba

Threats of nuclear war

His presidency held hope

We asked not what he could do

What the people could contribute

Was specifically Kennedy's view

With 1000 days behind him

He had enemies and friends

Shots rang out in Dallas

And his vision was doomed to end

The people who lived in the sixties

Were to be forever inclined

To relive those days in November

Embedded deeply in their minds

A Letter to Outer Space

C.S. LEWIS, born November 29, 1898 & died November 22, 1963.

Let’s pray that the human race never escapes from earth to spread its inequity elsewhere.

THE LETTER TO OUTER SPACE

Be safe my fellow planets

And reject the lunacy

Never take for granted

What Earth had come to be

Learn from mistakes our people made

Run, run, run from social justice

We spread these warnings in friendship

Heed them and in them trust us

Keep your planet free, my friends

Learn from Earth's mistakes

Control the men in politics

With forever what it takes

The Dictator

Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future.

Adolf Hitler

THE DICTATOR

Take your seat upon the throne

Look down upon your minions

Demoralize these common drones

Step on their opinions

Wreak terror on your people

Keep them frozen in fear

Chop down their church and steeple

Equalize their peers

Sabotage the economy

Inflate the mighty dollar

Prepare a low class colony

Call them racist if they holler

Assassinate those you ordered

To cover up your deeds

Tax their every quarter

Regulate them 'til they bleed

Continue to convince the masses

You will provide their every need

Just keep them on their asses

As a dictator now you lead

The Words of Lincoln

In July 1963 President Kennedy said this on the grounds of Gettysburg:

Five score years ago the ground on which we stand shuddered under the clash of arms and was consecrated for all time by the blood of American manhood. Abraham Lincoln, in dedicating this great battlefield, has expressed in words too eloquent to paraphrase or summary, why the sacrifice was necessary.

THE WORDS OF LINCOLN

The words of Lincoln

From his heart they came

One man who for his country, he shivered with pride

I can see his hands shaking and feel his heart beating

As he lamented for liberty and the cost of who died

This speech as told in Gettysburg

Has always held We the People at pause

Even students in tender years

Were left entirely consumed with the cause

The battle field has ghosts of brave soldiers who stayed

Bemoaning the now unseen blood that was shed

So many lives and limbs had been paid

All we have now are the words Lincoln said

The Gettysburg address is his gift for all time

Pertaining so much to what  is meant to be free

The liberty and treasure that's now yours and mine

Are from the most unselfish war in our history

REMEMBERING

Lincoln said this:

The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.

REMEMBERING

Much can be said about history making

And how wars were ended in celebration

Confetti on the streets and Champaign drinking

The victors toasting our growing nation

Stories are told that lose their accuracy

Time fades the excitement and pride

But memories of liberty revives our tenacity

What was done there isn't easy to hide

The Freakish Storm

THE FREAKISH STORM

Our last warm autumn day has ended in a production

And Mother Nature is the writer and director

It began with a most thunderous eruption

With winds out to prove they're a factor

The light show amazed the most seasoned storm chasers

And trees braced themselves with all of their might

Children found mother, shivered and embraced her

While father readied the shelter for the night

The thunder continued to grow in crescendo

The rain pounded the earth to submission

The wind decided to dance in a circle

And found power from the straight line transition

It roared as it twirled

Wreaked destruction as it whirled

The village grew dark in the storm

The thunder it crashed

With the lightening that flashed

Leaving debris of our homes now deformed

As the chaos moved out to punish the countryside

We settled in to the cold taste of November

A spring storm had sprung in the autumn this time

Making sure that we all would remember

STEPPING IN THE FOOTPRINTS OF TIME

David Bryne said this about filling in the dots:

Everything’s intentional. It’s just filling in the dots.

STEPPING IN THE FOOTPRINTS OF TIME

We are born with a clean slate

In which our aspirations are applied

Some call the end our fate

But our destiny is implied

Our choice in every matter

Is another step inside a print

Of one that walked ahead of us

To follow is our intent

The person at the end of life

Is as intentional as it gets

You can leave this world smiling

Or fretting with regrets

The Seasons of Life

THE SEASONS OF LIFE

I burst into spring all fresh and new

With the rain and the sun, this baby, I grew

I sprinted into summer armed with grand expectations

Found my life's highway and formed my relations

I stepped into autumn having discovered my pace

I lived and I loved and my problems I faced

Reluctantly I was dragged into the winter of my fate

Tying up loose ends before it's to late

Just before spring to Lord Jesus I'd go

Trusting what I left behind helps another one grow

The seasons of life through which I had driven

Was hopefully productive and what was wrong is forgiven

The trails I blazed were paved with my soul and my heart

Here's hoping that highway is a good place to start

WE WRITE OUR OWN WAY

David Bryne said this about filling in the dots:

Everything’s intentional. It’s just filling in the dots.

WE WRITE OUR OWN WAY

With pencil in hand

Our journey begins

Where the dots, there they stand

Start from where we have been

Connecting the dots

There on the page

Is the path that we've got

And the future we engage

The picture it shows

Which goes on with a purpose

Is the path that we chose

Be it just safe or tremendous

THE ART OF LIFE

Steve Jobs said:

You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something....your gut, destiny, life, karma, or whatever. This approach has never let me down and has made all the difference in my life.

THE ART IF LIFE

The only absolute is where we have been

What we have done

Who we have known

The only tomorrow's we'll have

Is our knowledge and our trust

Our hope and our destiny

And the direction we've grown

Our portrait is our past

Yet our sculpture goes on

Changes can be chiseled

Even in life set in stone

YOUR TRUSTY REPORTER

FACTS: A true piece of information

In matters of truth the fact that you don’t want to publish something is nine times out of ten, a proof that you ought to publish it.

Gilbert Chesterton

Writer/Poet/Theologian

1874-1936

YOUR TRUSTY REPORTER

I am your trusty reporter

The story is what I seek

But at times I might embellish

The news I'm paid to speak

There is never much real interest

In facts that turn out bland

So I stir into my story some fantasy

Lies seem to be in demand

It was never my intention

To stretch and mold the facts

But the truth is often boring

So I report it inexact

IN NEWS WE TRUST

This quote is from William Tecumseh Sherman who was a General in the Union army during the Civil War.

I hate newspapermen. They come into the camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are.

IN NEWS WE TRUST

The media are voyeurs

Paid to skulk in others' lives

Supposedly fact finders

Theirs lies can cut like knives

If the facts do not inspire

The readers they entice

They put a pot of half truths on the fire

And add their lies like spice

Endless Knowledge

The education of a man is never completed until he dies. Robert E. Lee

Ted Otto, the old man who boarded my first horse, once told me..."You can't call yourself a horseman until you can admit you never will know all there is to learn about horses."

That advice has stayed with me to this very day.

You may be smart and well informed, but if you rely only on the knowledge you have attained up to this day, you may be passing on the opportunity to learn something that may cause you to be the one to cure cancer.

Forgetting One Detail

I have been up to see congress and they do not seem to be able to do anything except to eat peanuts and chew tobacco while my army is starving. Robert E. Lee

FORGETTING ONE DETAIL

As the bombs go off around us

And we are pinned down amid the fire

Our stomachs are drawn and growling

And sleep is not an option

At home in Congress they smoke cigars

Celebrating more laws to burden our liberty

Never remembering for a moment

They should be finding a way to bring us home

Smooth

The following quote is from General Douglas MacArthur. He lived 1880-1964 and was the best known military leader of WW2.

Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul. Americans never quit!

SMOOTH

As age wrinkles the body

And quitting wrinkles the soul

It takes a special kind of people

To not let adversity take its toll

We have that as Americans

Who are as special as it gets

There is not a wrinkle to be found

Because Americans never quit

Are American Veterans to be our saviors?

I would venture to say that Obama's biggest fear is the veterans who are still willing to die for the flag and the constitution. Janet Napalatano has already stated that fact. Believe me, he will go against a force like he has never known if he tries to pull a Hitler maneuver. That's about all I should say on that subject...The Tea Party is one thing...The American Veteran is quite another so combine the two and look out. I sure hope it's not necessary.  JTD

Instead of extreme means...

But now because of the infamous Obamacare, even a lot of the Dems are turning against him. Hopefully more and more people will understand what he is really all about.  S.K. 11/13/03

We can only hope that Obama's signature legislation will be what cripples his socialistic machine.  The threat of losing their cushy seats and ample salary and benefits are moving more and more far left liberals to the right.

This country needs the balance of Conservatism and Liberalism...we can better do with very little of the extremes of each.

The right mixture of God and country with hope and charity could put us back on a positive path and restore our world standing. And a grandly increased education in our true history would go a long way towards reinstalling the American pride that has been seriously lacking in the past fifty years if progressive politics. M. Beatty 11/13/03

Is Civil War our inclination?

OBAMA RISKS A DOMESTIC MILITARY INTERVENTION:

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible. John L. Perry, pre 2012

Armed citizens against this government is sadly but fortunately not a preferred option. We should not as a modern and reasonable civilization justify bloodletting to curb this new government's progressive aggression, even though the Socialistic changes it is imposing is not acceptable nor in any way aligned with our founder's vision. Our only immediate options are to continue trying to educate voters to install representatives intent on reducing the size of government, or allow the government to fail and pray we can pick up the pieces. And of course, hold our arms close should defending ourselves against our own government become our only option.

M. Beatty 11/13/03

Plain and Simple, This is How it is

PAUL E VALLELY and he said this:

Obama is intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon, and reducing us as a super power....anyone who disagrees with him is PURGED.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE, THIS IS HOW IT IS

When there comes a so called leader

Who is compromised at best

His skill to lead is questionable

He has a socialistic vision quest

Now our reputation is damaged

In our military force

He has minimized our defenses

In manpower and resource

It is his will to corral the citizens

Into poor dependant lives

And tax to death the successful

Who now find it hard to thrive

The middle class he's created

Are now struggling to make ends meet

And the dependant class has all the power

To fill congressional seats

Money once spent on defense

Is routed directly to environmental lobbies

While the president is chasing

His golf and personal hobbies

His socialistic cronies

In the cabinet he built

Are busy labeling detractors

With unfounded racial guilt

Everything he wants accomplished

With no backing for his cause

Is implemented by executive order

With all his mandates and costly laws

The major event of his presidency

Is the Affordable Health Care Act

Only meant to collapse our republic

Another scheme the liberals back

God is being purged

As the foundation in which we stand

And our children are being indoctrinated

In our schools per his plan

The American  president is a puppet

Of George Soros and his type

The only chance this country has

Is to move drastically to the right

The Bond

The quote is from St. Augustine:

What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.

THE BOND

It is reaching out with a helping hand

And being there for others when need demands

It is a sense you have for people in need

That ignites your charity before they must plead

It is the warmth you feel even without reward

It is the duty to do for and trust in our Lord

It makes you look twice then shy away

It gets one through a horrible day

It makes your heart beat faster, stronger

It encourages you to linger longer

It makes a hug send chills down your spine

And gives you the will to work nine to nine

It is the reason for never needing to stray

You look at home in a brand new way

It creates miracles...daughters and sons

An never again being only one

It is a journey together til death do you part

And a combined choice of your mind and heart

It is a passionate kiss that seals  your fate

To stay together and procreate

It is a reason to cling and in kind respond

It is love, it is genuine, it is a bond

To Hell With Hamburger, My Taste Buds Need Sugar

TO HELL WITH HAMBURGER
MY TASTE BUDS NEED SUGAR!

Fresh fruit yes

White bread no

Cake and ice cream.....

No go

Veggies are ok

They are good, so they say

But truffles are better

You know

Pounds increase

Labeled obese

Have to buy two seats on a plane

From food on the table

To being disabled

There is nothing but pounds to be gained

Hold the salt hold the sugar

Hold the bun on the burger

To drop another size

I gotta exersize

And become a calorie purger

Paranoia

There with the dust bunnies he stays

Seldom from under there he strays

No one believes what for years I have said

A ghost lives under my bed

The closet door must be closed tight

It is so hard to be here at night

If they listen then everyone knows

A monster hangs out with my clothes

There is no way to fool me with disguise

The flowers on the wallpaper have eyes

And I know for certain that under the curtain

The spiders are working as spies

The Shallow Stare

THE SHALLOW STARE

A fellow soldier huddled in a bunker

Gunshots and bombs are all he hears

Missing the birth of his very first daughter

He is struggling with his fears

A child approached us innocently

What he brought is just a sin

He sets off a bomb so casually

Broken bodies are all around him

Villages in smoldering ashes

Littered with charred remains

What was the sin of these murdered masses?

Is there a reason for this kind of pain?

Religious zealots with knives and guns

Who want to kill the infidel

The targeted are the innocent ones

What god would promote this hell?

A lonely veteran broken and worn

Haunted by places he has been

A life now fractured, permanently torn

From the things his eyes have seen

The shallow stare of a warrior

Who has seen such human destruction

A permanent scar on his character

From the depths of his repulsion

Ghetto

GHETTO

Five kids and babies momma in a two room run down pad

Baby daddies don't come 'round unless they need a warm bed

Mamma's smokin' crack she gets from laying on her back

Half the time she don't know where the kids are at

The kids are trying to hustle out in the streets

The oldest girl gets by for what she does between the sheets

The littlest two are shopping at bodegas every day

The trick is what they take from there they never have to pay

The oldest boy makes a deal trading what he got

Sometimes he does so well he scores a gun and pot

Then there is another boy who isn't so street smart

But he makes enough for food trading quarters for his art

Mamma has another man laid up in her bed

When one of baby daddies come and shoot him in the head

The roach infested rooms are clearly not a home

Even with the six of them they live life on their own

We keep them all from trying with handouts and assistance

It helps fund their little lives of crime with nearly no persistence

If they survive the ghetto they will all be on take

Very few ghetto kids will ever make a break

Regrets of a Lonely Man

REGRETS OF A LONELY MAN

He stood knocking on the door

At the house he worked to pay for

Remembering the plans they had made

Sitting before a fire and drinking champaign

For years now he stood there every other Saturday

Just to have a few hours to watch his children play

Now the kids were nearly grown

Sissy and Sonny had plans of their own

He tried not to look too disappointed

Although his feelings were sadly wounded

Sissy was off with friends, just to hang around

Sonny had tickets for the concert down town

His childhood sweetheart has long been his ex

It was his need for change that caused it, perhaps

Their familiarity, once good, led him to wander

Bored and confused their money she squandered

His wandering never panned out back then

Failed relationships kept them lonely in the end

She made her apologies for the kids being away

Shut the door as she said "Have a nice day"

His future looked bleak and he was afraid

What a wreak his life was for the games that they played

He said to himself "it's my own bed I made,

I had a choice and I should have stayed."

The Commander

The quote is from Sun Tzu:

Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.

THE COMMANDER

The discipline was tough to take

The rigors of war would do us in, I thought

But in time we learned we were his son's and daughters

We were tough, able, and obviously we'll taught

There was never somewhere he would send us

Where he would not go in there first

We found he would give up his last drop of water

To quench a soldier's thirst

The harsh words that he bellowed

When one of us would screw things up

Proved many times to save our lives

Things were harsh, man, but there was trust

He put on a tough and heartless front

But one day I saw the tears in his eyes

He tried to hide them but I know they were there

When there were brutal, permanent good-byes

I'd follow this brute to hell and back

Never hiding from the battle call

He was the man he had to be

And a father to us all

Mad as Hell

MAD AS HELL

Once proud in our freedom

Once hopeful in our dreams

There used to be half a chance

It is just the way it seems

We Americans are struggling to do our best

In this economy it's really hard

We are again the target of terrorists

Right in our own back yard

But the deepest cut of all

Is that the people who are elected

Want to see our country fall

And our middle class neglected

Learning institutions are leaning left

The main stream media is biased

The conservatives can't pass the test

Ideology is at its highest

Hope and change has been a nightmare

We are in danger of collapse

Progressives are in power and most don't care

And liberty is fading fast

The Ghosts of War

THE GHOSTS OF WAR

He said goodbye to his wife

He left to do battle a proud American

He paid for his bravery with his life

This scenario happens again and again

Too many flag draped coffins have arrived on our shore

Too many tears have been shed

Too many politicians are not keeping score

Too many warriors coming home dead

He left with a patriotic heart

Proud that his parents would boast

But war tore his young soul apart

And he lives his life with a battle scarred ghost

Too many minds cracked and broken

Too many bloody bodies they'll be dreaming about

Too many vivid stories go unspoken

Too many young people wake up screaming out loud

The Pain of Benghazi

THE PAIN OF BENGHAZI

"What difference does it make?" Hillary said

The difference is that their sons are dead

Unanswered cries screamed from the brutal attacks

As fire raged in Benghazi, no one had their backs

It's not only about four men who lost their lives

The tragedy is far beyond the pale

It's the anguish of fathers, mothers, and wives

An inept government bureaucracy failed them

Salt in the wounds would after be driven

When lies circulated the news

This is one administration that won't be forgiven

Men lost their lives as their president snoozed

His Broken Vow

HERODOTUS. He was a Greek Historian. (484-425 B C) What he said thousands of years ago, remains true to this day and will forever remain true.

In peace sons bury their fathers, but war violates the order of nature, and fathers bury their sons.

HIS BROKEN VOW

His tears of happiness were shed the day

His healthy newborn son was placed in his arms

He realized the miracle that happened that day

He vowed forever to keep him from harm

There was always an unspoken bond between them

One only a father and son knows

There were disagreements but things were righted again

Growing sons sometimes think they know how everything goes

At a time in his life a half grown man, still a boy

The father's son was sent off to war

The mainstay of the man's heart, his love, and his joy

Was leaving to do what his dad did before

His tears of sadness were shed that day

As the flag from the coffin was placed in his arms

Fathers and sons weren't supposed to separate this way

The broken father failed to keep his son from harm

JUMPING THE GUN

Allen West:

One thing the military teaches you is to smell fear.

JUMPING THE GUN

He moved forward upon his steed

Wearing armor for his protection

He readied for battle, he'd see them bleed

Far before the moment of the battle's inception

Not relying on the battle cry

Being valiant into battle the warrior did steer

Passing all the others by

Because he smelled the enemy's fear

Heads Above the Water

Thomas Jefferson:

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

HEAD ABOVE THE WATER

Sailing along with the wind taking us away

Returning on a current at the end of each day

Trusting our boat is sturdy, stern to stem

Before our bow is where we are heading

Aft is where we have been

Should sleezy, lying traitors fight their way aboard

And impose their aspirations upon our crew

Our surrender we can all Ill-afford

Saving our ship means only our resistance will do

We cannot let the flame in our lanterns flicker then die

Allowing perpetrators to take our grand ship

Eternal vigilance from the sailors, with a keen eye

Would have stopped the scheming traitors from intruding on our trip

If our ship is our country should we treasure her less?

Than sailors did the compilation of wood and sails

Why shouldn't we resist the traitors in our midst?

Will we watch them burn the constitution, let our country fail?

A PATRIOT'S PROMISE

To stand in silence when they should be protesting makes cowards of men. Abe Lincoln

A PATRIOT'S PROMISE

Don't ask me to hold my tongue

Don't ask that I stand down

I will refute every lie that's flung

And not cower without a sound

Though I may be scorned

When I raise my voice

When my country is torn

I have no choice

I will always choose to stand

Against government's growing power

A patriot's heart demands

He won't live and die a coward

When the Citizens Surrendered

The quote is from an American author, Paul McGuire.

The message is seductive, “we will take care of you.” Whenever people look to government as their saviour, totalitarianism always rears its head and people loose their freedom. You will have a tiny upper class, or as they like to say, 1%, and a massive under class which will be unemployed or the working class.

WHEN THE CITIZENS SURRENDERED

A sadness lingers across the land

The era of productivity has died

No more eager workers will the economy demand

Languishing citizens have surrendered their pride

The elite a mere peanut in the barrel

Will they too be diminished over time?

Can this country be no longer in peril

Because there is simply no further it can decline?

Chasing rainbows is not an option

The pot of gold has ceased to exist

We drank their koolaide or some concoction

All because of a free ride most wouldn't resist

Paintings are all now black and white

Our future less liberty is set in stone

I was there when the republic was stable and right

Now with too few patriots I stand alone

The Vote

not sure what it will take to bring people out of their political coma.

THE VOTE

There are ignorant people asleep at the wheel

They have no clue what is bogus or real

They think of their life as one big joke

And all of them are proud to vote

We get by with reps these voters selected

Who with poor performance are reelected

Our lives are lived and futures formed

By voters who are misinformed

The Devil

Obama is evil incarnate. There’s not a doubt in my mind.” (Charles Struber)

THE DEVIL

The devil can lie without blinking

And uphold it up as fact

He is smooth in his demeanor

His sensitivity an act

He can make promises forever

That he intends to never keep

He can thrust a knife into someone's back

Let patriots burn while sound asleep

He can justify late term abortions

For those who don't want to be a mamma

He is skilled at mass extortion

The devil is Obama

Parity

Socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of the socialist.

Lenin

PARITY

He compromised the economy

Spent until we're broke

Undermined our dignity

Let our global standing go up in smoke

He has convinced too many people

They are better off in his care

Food stamps are a way of life

Along with disability and welfare

His ultimate accomplishment

Is the affordable health care act

Another name for socialized medicine

More spending and more tax

Gone is the chance for prosperity

Motivation is ultimately lost

A country based on parity

With liberty the cost

Someone Needs To Pay

The man who promises everything is sure t fulfil nothing, and everyone who promises too much is in danger of using evil means to carry out his promises, and is already on the road to perdition.

Carl Q

SOMEONE NEEDS TO PAY

With empty pockets they  ask we consider

Grand plans the progressives cannot deliver

Why do people believe the lies?

Is it greed or don't they realize?

The promises if at all are kept

With taxes mandated on our every step

When greed itself is his driving force

By evil means he will make his course

And we all will suffer the consequence

Of the empty promises and our bounty spent

The Threat

An American author, Chuck Palshanuk, said “When did the future switch from being a promise to a threat?”

The forefathers toiled tirelessly to compile it

Then placed the Constitution in our hands

Government will never again defile us

They will be elected an serve st our demand

We remained a country prosperous and free

Until, like roaches, progressives invaded

With misguided promises they won their seats

As more were installed, our liberty faded

Promises were broken

And our future became a threat

With every progressive word spoken

We can fight or live chained with our regrets

TIME TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR GOD

Rocks turned

Bridges burned

Anger and resentment

Pure and total commitment

The time behind you fading fast

The end is coming soon at last

Happy unions

Sad goodbyes

Refreshing laughter

Soaking cries

We've all been there, done that

Now we stop to reflect just where we're at

Release your hate

Reciprocate

Embrace your God

Don't hesitate

He allowed you free rein to live your life

To chose your friends, husband or wife

It's time to pray you understand

He has always been so close at hand

Needing to Believe

George Eliot:

The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.

NEEDING TO BELIEVE

Do we ever reflect on the wonder

Beneath the deep blue sea

It is filled with miracles of life

Evolutions key?

Reflecting on God's existence

Questioning how on earth did I get here

Looking out over the ocean

Should I love Him, should I fear?

If only my perception

Leaned one way or the next

Those who truly believe

Why can't I know why they feel blessed

Something oh so simple

A gentle worldly nudge

But the beach is barren before me

How on earth am I to judge

The angels came to visit me

As here alone I stand

I would never know they had been here

If not for footprints in the sand

Perfection

To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often.

Winston Churchill

Perfection

Improvement to perfection

Just may be our goal

Maintaining that perfection

Will surely take its toll

Falling from perfection

Happens far too easily

Because nothing near perfection

Is what we're meant to be

If we change to achieve perfection

It is often we will change

Like I said previously

Perfection is too hard too maintain

The Lost Soul

"While death consumes us" immediately makes me think of Donnie.

THE LOST SOUL

He lost out on too many today's

Missed out on friends along the way

In his life the past was self-imposed

He walked his path with yesterday's ghosts

Dreams were replaced with nightmares

He saw scorn in people's stares

The heartbreak he could not avoid

He lived his life as paranoid

Escape was there had he reached out

But his preference was a life of doubt

A bottle was his only friend

He paid his dues with shots of gin

They saw him and immediately turned away

He'd driven them off to their
dismay

It's hard for loved ones to intervene

In a life that's lived in Halloween

It's All About Today

Do not fear death so much but rather the inadequate life." Betroit Brecht

IT'S ALL ABOUT TODAY

Such a shame it would be

To alter life in fear of death

One will lose a piece of longevity

When he questions every breath

Turned loose, we were, to dignify

Our own existence here on earth

Given a chance to signify

Just what we thought our worth

Fear should never be of the end

As we concentrate on our present task

Today is what counts not where we've been

Or what we can forecast

It's Just What Will Come

Mark Twain said that "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."

IT'S JUST WHAT WILL COME

It has been a busy life

Good times, bad times

Exceptional days and strife

But mostly just everyday times

There have been days so devastating

That death would have been preferred

I hated just participating

In some crap that had occurred

But mostly I put my trust in God

I feared death as just unknown

Dwelling on it would be quite odd

But I wondered where I was going

Life itself was more the question

As I had to face it on my own

The certainty of death in my impression

Is always etched in stone

There is no changes I could make

To prevent death when it shall come

I'll glean from life what I can take

As I just keep moving on

Changing Change

"The framers of the constitution knew that free speech is the friend of change and revolution. But they also knew that it was the deadliest enemy of tyranny." Hugo Black

CHANGING CHANGE

Truth, justice, and freedom of speech

The tantamount goal in which we reach

It's the logical solution

The key to revolution

It's the history lessons we are called upon to teach

The facts that prove the lawmakers wrong

The patriotism that will rise in song

Where the swords are that of truth

And the lies are slain with proof

Evidence in hand we all respond

When laws and regulations empower

Big government  to reign as the people cower

It's our catalyst to call their bluff

The polls can't open soon enough

The unity within our republic is our power

Our Revolution

Victor Hugo said "When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right."

OUR REVOLUTION

These modern days and times

When we call for revolution

It won't be the wrath of early days

When bearing arms was the solution

It is now we call on Americans

To think with hearts and head

To recognize the truth from lies

Asking for sensibility instead

Today our revolution

Is to stop now and take pause

And realize the changes forthcoming

Are from unfair, stifling laws

We must convince the people that the handouts

Are merely bribes and pacifiers

And the progressives that are coddling us

Are really thrives and liars

Let the revolution come

For the sake of future generations

And may our ammunition be

Votes to stop this trsnsformation

Failed Document

"BUT if the constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain...that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, OR HAS BEEN POWERLESS TO PREVENT IT. In either case, it is unfit to exist." Lysander Spooner

FAILED DOCUMENT

If the honor of America

Will fall as it has risen

If the people within the country

Become victims of division

If big government corruption

Throws us all into the Abyss

Has the constitution failed us?

Should it continue to exist?

THE TIGER

Confuscius says "An oppressive government is more to be feared than a tiger."

THE TIGER

Crouching silently in wait

It's beauty and dignity belie its ferocity

With claws so sharp and teeth so deadly

The oppressive government destroys our liberty

SHOOT THE MESSENGER

"It is a paradox that every dictator has climbed to power on the ladder of free speech. Immediately on attaining power each dictator has suppressed all free speech except his own." Herbert Hoover

SHOOT THE MESSENGER

Let them spew their dialogue

Let them try to warn the masses

Let them try to prove me wrong

May they all look like asses

Let me control the media

Let them be in awe of me

Let my detractors look paranoid

Even though I contort reality

Let my power grow boundlessly

As free speech gets old and tired

Soon I will be in control of thee

And let free speech be now expired

Quote on memories

Words not so grand to fill a best selling novel become important memories in the mind of a child. The time spent with an aging soul is worth it's weight in gold.

Marian Beatty

Passing Along the Past

"Keep all special thoughts and memories for lifetimes to come. Share these keepsakes with others to inspire hope and build from the past which can bridge the future." Mattie Stepanek

PASSING ALONG THE PAST

Stories before the fireplace told

By relatives who are growing old

Belie the value of trinkets shared

Heartfelt memories can't be compared

Tales of adventures that fishermen tell

Worth any antique that one can sell

The little boy who grips the pole

Awed by the memories from the old man's soul

The grizzled veterans with tales of war

Old farmers with standards youth searches for

The memories remain in a child's mind

Important facts never left behind

Moving On

"The happiest memories are of moments that ended when they should have." Robert Brault

MOVING ON

So one thing that I have learned in this lifetime

Is not to hold the best times like a lifeline

Sour evolves from the best of taste

It's too easy for euphoria to go to waste

Don't love so strong to smother those

Who are meant to share your highs and lows

Let memories take hold of time well spent

And embrace fresh goodness from Heaven sent

Mail Call

MAIL CALL

There they stand in conversation

Outside a makeshift mess hall

It's been a particularly trying week

And they look forward to the mail call

Back at home the spirits are high

Christmas is soon to come

They are caught up in the season

But here the gunfire welcomes each dawn

As names are called snd envelopes are passed

They grow silent so they can listen

The anticipation meets devastation

Teary eyes begin to glisten

It is easier to face the enemy

Than consecutive weeks with no word from home

Among his many comrades

He is feeling so alone

Has his sister made the cheering squad?

Is his brother still playing ball?

Is dad recovering from his heart attack?

Do they think of me at all?

Disappointment boils to the surface again

Sadly a few must walk away

With no connection from home in hand

And a sadness that will last all day

Stay Cool

"Our message should be disseminated with honest and confident authority or risk being determined the rant of unbalanced loons." Marian Beatty

STAY COOL

From time to time we will realize

We have our rights to excersize

To be deemed for credibility

We must use restraint snd dignity

If we want to show we're well in  tune

We need not act like angry loons

Be cool and confident in what you say

To impress the others to go your way

Credibility

"Live your message: Practice what you preach. That's where credibility comes from." John C Maxwell

CREDIBILITY

If your message is from your heart

And runs deep to the core of your soul

If you walk the walk and talk the talk

By all means make it your goal

If your message is that of outside sources

And of pure ideology

Know that you will be
questioned

And it reflects your credibility

TRUTH FEARS NO QUESTIONS

Obama's dishonesty will come to bite him in the end...

TRUTH FEARS NO QUESTIONS

Standing on his podium

His furrowed brow tells the tale

His concern is so superficial

The questions are asked, his answers fail

Let me be clear he tends to say

But clear as mud is what's to be

Talking points go round and round

Inconsistent rhetoric runs rampantly

Our president is determined to deny us

Open and honest accountability

From one scandal to another crisis

He has compromised his integrity

The only thing a leader needs to portray

Is an open and honest clear reflection

Dishonesty will do him in

Truth fears no questions

By the Wayside

"Where is the dignity unless there is honesty?" Cicero

BY THE WAYSIDE

Where has it gone, the pride?

What does our government have to hide?

They live under a cloak of conspiracy, cover-ups, no accountability.

Where has it gone, the honor?

The face of truth we garner?

Lies have become their calling card, their billboard, and with disregard

Where has it gone, the patriotism?

The tears we shed when the flag has risen?

Gone for fear of retribution, for standing on The Constitution

Where will we be ten years from now?

Self sufficient or don't know how?

Victims of a welfare state, divided with a sense of hate

Where has it gone, the dignity

Head held high, integrity

It has gone by way of Obama's plan, from once industrious to a broken man

Implementation of a socialistic agenda

Since health care is vital to everyone, it is the most powerful tool the government has to control the most people.

Poor people are afraid they will not survive this economy on their own. So they embrace the free stuff mentality.  Unfortunately for the worker bees of the country, it is on our backs the burden is strapped to subsidise these people.

The economy is ripe for socialism to get its foot in the door. With mass unemployment the most employable people are forced into the lower paying jobs once held by willing lower class workers. So not only are there deadbeats claiming welfare, subsidised housing, and food stamps...the once productive displaced working class is forced to take the handouts. As jobs are not forthcoming they fear losing it all and become a part of the far left voter base.

Add bleeding hearts who insist on saving the environment, funding and educating illegal aliens, and the increase in class warfare based on creed, color, and nationality, we end up with a country divided and a legislative stone wall. That delights the Obama administration who is more than happy to use executive privilege to enact laws to fit their agenda.
