The People in the Distance

Plato: "The price of apathy toward public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."

THE PEOPLE IN THE DISTANCE

The joy of liberty now so immediately in peril

Ignorance and apathy still prevail

The people watching at a distance say

"It's just another period of hard times"

Nothing can befall the most powerful of nations

That would bring her to her knees

The people watching at a distance say

"Let the patriots do their duty, we'll be fine"

As the evil men elected settle in

And transform our beloved country into a cowering welfare state

The people watching at a distance say

"Where is my freedom? This place is no longer mine!"

Economy crashed and irreparable

Jobs at a premium while fat cats sit in power

The people in the distance say

"Who let this happen? Where were the signs?"
