God made us in His image, true
But let our hearts and souls be our own
Our course in life and what we do
Are mortal traits not set in stone
The gift of free will that formed a person
Results in goodness, but also of sin
No one's character is for certain
The result of a mortal is where he's been
Had God withheld us of free will
Goodness in all would be self contained
Our righteousness would need no skill
And in God's image we would all be saints
