THE EASY WAY

Yes, you may get there sooner than most

What have you missed by speeding through your life?

Just seeing the rest of us straggling in may make you boast

You laugh at the barriers along the way that caused us strife

But on your limited access highway, what have you seen?

Who have you touched along the way?

Does it really matter to you the lack of places you have been?

Didn't you ever want to linger somewhere one day?

Was it really to your benefit not to be weighed down?

Most obstacles build character, who are you?

Whatever was before you, you found your way around

Avoidance was your purpose in everything you'd do

I may have finished later having relationships to bear

The obstacles were challenges of interest to me

I would rather have loved and lost than to never have cared

You may have finished first but I passed the test, you see.

The easy way ain't the best way if you want to be  someone

What you see each time around the block gets more intense

The long way ain't the worse way if you want to get things done

I'd never have survived with no suspense
