Urged to Wars

"Freedom has cost too much blood and agony to be relinquished at the cheap price of rhetoric."

Thomas Sowell 1930

URGED TO WARS

As we go about our daily lives

Acting gladly on our free will

Onward to our goals we strive

We should remember still

The ultimate sacrifices made

By our embattled military

On foreign soils they have stayed

For wars that mar our history

In peace time we can only pray

That no rhetoric politicians can muster

Can bring more wars from things they say

In war mongering filibusters

Discovery and Being There

WALT WHITMAN. He lived 1819-1892

"Oh while I live, to be the ruler of life, not a slave, to meet life as a powerful conqueror, and nothing exterior to me will ever take command of me."

DISCOVERY

Too long I had been the rug on the floor

Just asking to be walked on by superior feet

Far too long I hid behind my door

Fearing contact with better people I might meet

Then I met the real me

A warrior destined to conquer my fears

My existence was meant to be

I am equal among my peers

A difference I can truely make

With my courage of a lion and warm heart

It was just that first step I needed to take

And with introspection found a place to start

~~

We convince by our presence.

BEING THERE

Be not a face in the crowd

Be not a whisper among the shouting

Stand out and be loud

Be not the one there doubting

Be part of the solution to adversity

Be a citizen that would make the founders proud

Be an influence that marks eternity

You are the stand out in the crowd

Recharged

"Solitude is very different from time out from our busy lives. Solitude is the very ground from which community grows. Whenever we pray alone, study, read, write, or simply spend quiet time away from the places were we interact with each other directly, we are potentially opened for a deeper intimacy with each other."

Henri Nouwen

RECHARGED

There is this place I go where no one is allowed

But me

I tag it in my heart as hallowed ground

You see

My thoughts are free to wander

Into the clear blue yonder

Souls need time to heal

Don't you agree?

This place is only open to myself

Sometimes I cry

It is where problems are put away up on a shelf

So I can fly

I float in utter silence

Escaping all the violence

You may think it sounds so silly but it helps

When I return its like rebirth

I feel renewed

My purpose on this earth

I have reviewed

Before that day I felt like nothing

But now I'm back and I am something

Rejoicing in the dreams I will pursue

Two patriotic poems

"There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise above itself in acts of bravery and heroism." Alexander Hamilton

FEELING BEING AMERICAN

Have you ever gotten goosebumps when the National Anthem is sung?

Have you ever felt a lump in your throat as you watch the American flag hung?

Have you had to question your liberty in the recent days gone by

Have you started watching the nightly news with tears and question why?

Were you front and center in line to vote no matter what the issue?

Does a twenty-one gun salute leave you reaching for a tissue?

Does our history move you to great feelings of pride?

Do you understand once our freedom is gone, there is nowhere you can hide?

Is there a point that you will tolerate no more political games?

Have you gotten fed up with politicians calling each other names?

Do you know the system is breaking, or have you buried your head in the sand?

Do you understand We the People have the right to make demands?

Won't you read the Constitution and again give it a try?

Instead of living a life of apathy and watching your country die?

&

"When the sword is drawn the passions of man observe no bounds of moderation."

Alexander Hamilton 1744-1804

WARS TO PEACE

Passions rise to a crescendo as battle lines are drawn

When it comes to whether freedom will be won or lost

Peace becomes expensive when we sacrifice our own

But throughout history we have not hesitated to bear the cost

Our children and theirs become our obsession

When we see their liberty at stake

We ultimately choose to fight off an enemy's aggression

It has been throughout history the choice we had to make

And we've never balked at fighting for freedom's sake

We Own the Consequences

"It is wrong and immoral to seek to escape the consequences of one’s acts."

Mahatma Ghandi

WE OWN THE CONSEQUENCES

Kick the puppy and run outside

Blame your brother then go and hide

Escape the consequences with blatant lies

"I didn't do it!" The perpetrator cries

Our government now in in that role

Division is a vital goal

Blame another then lie and moan

Is this an action we can condone?

Shoot the patriot between the eyes

With more outrageous outright lies

They base their actions on hope and change

But are we prepared for what their hope will bring?

We own the consequences if we stand by

Accepting without question each alibi

Freedom lost is all there will be

As we surrender our long earned liberty

Corruption in America

"A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody."

Thomas Paine

GOODBYE ERIC HOLDER

Say goodbye to Eric Holder

The most corrupt attorney general this country has ever known

His tenure made this country much colder

And his negative impact should be etched in stone

THE CORRUPTION OF AMERICA

There has come a time in our history

That corruption is no mystery

Vast examples of ideological tasks

Done by devils in patriot masks

Hope and change was not meant for us

We are being stripped of IN GOD WE TRUST

Selfish goals of socialist perpetrators

Have proved them as great separators

They make daily life wallow in continuing strife

Division is their tool, their gun and knife

Blacks against whites against yellows against reds

Terrorist lopping off the hostages' heads

Women persuaded to go to war

Against normal practices they now abhor

They are convinced they are being singled out

Mistreated and not literally being tossed about

Demands for freebies at an all time high

Suffering taxpayers asking why?

The cupboards of layabouts are fully stocked

While those who work hit a financial roadblock

Terror looming in the streets

Now homeland cities will take the heat

A passive president throws stones and lies

Watching  as Christians and the Jewish die

Global warming has his focus

Although many Americans call it bogus

A round or two of golf each day

Won't keep the country's problems at bay

Corruption in the IRS

Deflecting blame is what they do best

Rewarded with a major health care role

The IRS is in firm control

Indoctrination in our schools

American history is now for fools

Our children are learning the socialist way

We the People dependant more each day

I could go on but your eyes would bleed

Should we allow this administration to succeed?

Lambs in need, shall we be?

Or bold providers with liberty?

Controlled By Lies

"When it comes to controlling human beings there is no better instrument than lies. Because, you see, humans live by beliefs. And beliefs can be manipulated."

Michael Ende 1929-1995

CONTROLLED BY LIES

For those who wish to call the shots

From unscrupulous leaders to crooked cops

There's no better tools in their box

Than the lies they tell to skew your thoughts

People rely on beliefs, you see

And rely on their peer's integrity

Their thoughts are morphed not logically

And they are drawn into the liar's insanity

Empowered

"Would you rather have butter or guns? Preparedness makes us powerful. Butter merely makes us fat."

Hermann Goering 1893-1946 German Criminal (ha, ha)

EMPOWERED

I used to cringe as I walked by

In neighborhoods teaming with criminal types

Now a gun's in my pocket and fully loaded

I'm not destined to become the victim of crime

My guns are here to keep me safe

I like to know I'm in control

With a growing violent human race

I'll have half a chance, that I know

As government grows and grows and grows

I can only hope my neighbors are armed

And when tyranny becomes exposed

We will be amply armed and well informed

DroneFingers

The Gun

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."

Thomas Jefferson 1743-1826

THE GUN

Tucked away and out of sight

It is with peace of mind that I know it is there

The gun I posses is my silent body guard

A simple guilty pleasure, I think that's fair

All shapes and sizes and of various power

My gun collection is a source of pride

I may only use them at a target shoot

But behind locked doors I need not hide

When the neighborhood screams in the night

I are empowered to have my gun nearby

Perpetrators will risk their lives

Should they cross my thresholds or even try

Once a shrinking violet, me

My gun restored my dignity

9/23/14

I thought Obama's motive as being geared to the election. He is doing what he does best, sitting on a fence after throwing a bone to a mean dog in the yard.

The bombs and air strikes were a good idea. But the rats will now scatter and hide in the walls of innocent people's dwellings. There should be ground troops there to flush them out or prevent them from fleeing.

War cannot be won without strategy and brave soldiers. It is like sending a horse into battle without a rider.

DroneFingers

Three Quotes about war.

"It is fatal to enter a war without the will to win it."

Douglas MacArthur

"One should never strike a match then just ignore it. It will end up burning you."

DroneFingers

"War is not a ride on a merry-go-round where it circles endlessly then glides to a stop. It is a massive roller coaster with hills and turns that will knock your socks off and must come to and end leaving your guts on the tracks. One seldom finds closure on a merry-go-round."

They Poked a Sleeping Bear

"Neither a wise man or a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run him over."

Dwight Eisenhower

THEY POKED A SLEEPING BEAR

Stalled by debate

Riddled with fear

Looking to history

What should happen here?

In the meantime citizens recoil

At the sight of beheaded innocents

Serving bravely on foreign soil

Is war now imminent?

We are all in an uproar

Yet still divided

Shall we settle the score

Or just go on hiding?

The brave will stand tough

And won't wait to respond

I say we've had enough

Let's show them our bombs

DroneFingers

As We Sleep

"We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us."

Winston Churchill

AS WE SLEEP

We lie down upon a feathered pillow

Our window opened slightly

A refreshing breeze moves the restless willow

We sleep well but some sleep lightly

They are awakened by distant bombs

Smelling smoke from nearby fires

Their restful night rarely goes beyond

The minute they retire

Their gun is cradled in their arms

Sand filled boots are still on their feet

They are there to keep us out of harm

From terror in our streets

Aboard a ship a sailor wonders

With each missile they deploy

That when that deadly bomb hits yonder

Will it kill some little boy?

Yes, we argue about the need for war

Our opinions spark a good debate

But we retire behind our bedroom doors

Tomorrow we'll sleep in late

The sons and daughters, husbands and wives

Who cringe at every sound at night

Are patriots betting with their lives

What they are doing there is right

And the sailors aboard the mighty ship

Watch the distant cities burn

From the missile that through the sky had ripped

Now the kill, it was confirmed

My Journey

QUOTE

"We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive."

C.S. Lewis Irish Author 1898-1963

MY JOURNEY

In a quest for my destiny I chose a path

Eager to find myself relatively fast

Things kept happening along the way

It kept my purpose in perpetual delay

Items of interest kept me distracted

My time and my progress was truely impacted

Devilish creatures lured me astray

They kept popping up as I went on my way

A bubbling brook invited me to fish

I couldn't refuse, as much as I wished

I saw a mountain that needed to be climbed

So many interests just took up my time

What does it matter who crosses the line

First and foremost is good use of my time

You may say I meander but what do I care?

It was my pleasure just traveling there

Kids Today

Social media has taken over in America to such an extreme that to get my own kids to look back a week in their history is a miracle, let alone 100 years.

Steven Spielberg American Director 1947

KIDS TODAY

We have seen the wars on tv

It is a major part of our history

But kids these days don't really believe it

They're too busy killing zombies to have ever seen it

They panic if caught without a phone

They stay holed up in their cyber home

Kids are getting harder to afford

And electricity ran through their umbilical cord

I-Pods are for kids, you see

Teenagers insist on I-Phone 3D

And back to the subject of history

It's not truth unless they see it on MTV

The Founders

"The challenge of statesmanship is to have the vision to dream of a better, safer world and the courage, persistence, and patience to turn that dream into reality."

Ronald Regan Served in WW2 Actor 40th President 1911-2004

THE FOUNDERS

Swept up by a duty and a love for their country

Our best leaders had courageous goals

The dreams they held dear in their hearts

Would bring treasure for the  world to behold

The treasure not silver or gold

They outlined a future in a Constitution

And signed it determined it would be

What would grow their country better than best

For a people who yearned to be free

Forever basking in liberty

Wars were fought for her honor

And the honor of all who made it their home

And with the persistence of her bold patriots

Her power and strength were a sight to behold

Lives of liberty much grander than silver and gold

THE SHELTERED LIFE

Ronald Reagan often said “don’t become a prisoner of your own perception.”

THE SHELTERED LIFE

Your dreams are only as worthy as your willingness to fly

We can't balance our lives on our own perception

Prisoners without the thrills we choose to deny

The Grand Giant

“America is too great for small dreams.” Ronald Reagan

THE GRAND GIANT

There was never anything small about her

Her vast beauty invited jealous awe

Her fertile fields have always fed her millions

She became home to the hopeful immigrants she'd draw

Her success was based on enormous dreams

Her citizens knew she was too grand to dream small

As those dreams become nightmares in frustration

It is then this giant shall fall

The American Soldier

"Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory."

General Douglas MacArthur

THE AMERICAN SOLDIER

I am an American soldier

Raised by patriots proud

I understand my weaknesses and know my strength

My head is not in the clouds

When I feel fear creep up on me

I face it with a prayer

I have been blessed to know that my loving Lord

No matter when, will always be there

If at times I endure defeat

I'll be proud that I did my best

Any battles can be won or lost

A true soldier can attest

In victory I will celebrate

But be humble and honorable over my fallen enemy

Knowing dancing around even an enemy's corpse

Will follow me in infamy

I am an American soldier

And will represent my country with honor I earned

And return to citizenry well schooled

As a patriot who proudly served

The American General

GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR 1880-1964

"A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others."

THE AMERICAN GENERAL

As a general I stand above my soldiers

With courage I insist they share

Never asking them to put themselves

At places I would not be there

I'll ask my president to trust me

In military decisions that must be made

Because my soldiers need to rely on me

To serve courageously, not be afraid

And the ultimate goal is to have a heart

Commanding my country's daughters and sons

I'll be stern but my compassion will endure

Once I arm them with a gun

Their welfare will be my ultimate concern

When my wartime strategies persist

In my decisions I must stand alone

In the battles conseice and swift

Let There Be Peace and And Finally War

"To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace."

LET THERE BE PEACE

Let there be peace around the world

Pray that battle stations be draped with cobwebs

But stand ready with well trained troops

An army and navy, the pride of our defense

For there are those who won't share our peaceful, gentle nature

&

"Experience teaches us that it is much easier to prevent an enemy from posting themselves than it is to dislodge them after they have got possession."

AND FINALLY WAR

As we have sat idly by

A new terrorist faction has imposed its wrath

Now there must be bombs that fall from the sky

And boots on the ground with a deadly task

As we fought terrorist one by one

Or failed to name them as such

They have multiplied and overrun

As we allowed them to go untouched

Now it is time to put our mighty foot down

And trust generals to put them to bed

It's the only option we finally have found

To destroy the serpent and cut off its head

And finally war is the logical resort

Because we ignored the snakes as they grew

It has gone beyond discussions and a weekly report

Because we allowed their power to accrue

Led With Purpose

HARRY TRUMAN

"Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skilful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better."

Ah, but is it the leader who determines what is better?

LED WITH PURPOSE

A meandering people

No place to go, no progress to bestow

Feeding themselves however they can

Never adhering to a logical plan

No paths to travel, just vines to unravel

In a country its vital to not remain idle

Lest life would be determinedly worthless

The President and Shirking our Duty

"The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is t say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant."

THE PRESIDENT

He need not be a general

But have generals on his side

He has to have humility and

Of course,  American pride

He needs to understand utmost

To serve the people well

Not be just a politician

With a load of crap to sell

If he is to be our leader

His ears should hear our pleas

His eyes should be wide open

So it's our future that he sees

His mouth should have a voice

That will move us in righteous truth

And his mind should be determined

To educate our youth

For the years he's in The White House

He is a servant to us all

Though his status commands respect

If he earns it, that's his call

&

"The signs of outstanding leadership appear primarily among the followers. Are the followers reaching their potential? Serving? Do they achieve the required results? Do they change with grace? Manage conflict?"

Both quotes by Max du Pree

SHIRKING OUR DUTY

Are we awake? Do we partake?

Do we understand current events?

Are we here? Do we care?

Who we elect to represent?

Do we vote or never bother?

Is our X on the best?

Do we know just how to go?

To use the ballot on our desk?

Are we to blame when it's the same

When the opportunity is presented

That there leaders who are cheaters

And we chose them to represent us?

Getting Up and Life in the Clouds

Henri Nouwen, 1932-1996. He was a Dutch Clergyman

"Our first responsibility in the midst of violence is to prevent it from destroying us."

GETTING UP

All around us hate erupts in violence

We listen to the news in stunned silence

More often we find ourselves regressing

While we find continued chaos so depressing

Can we afford to let the murderous terrorists defeat us?

They are killing our minds with continuous pure disgust

With each moment we retreat into our sadness

They chalk up another victim to their madness

There comes a point when we must rise up in our ire

And confront this enemy courageous and  inspired

It is hard to act, war weary as we've been

But it's time to draw our swords, this time to win

&

"The spiritual life is not a life before, after, or beyond our everyday existence. No, the spiritual life can only be real when it is lived in the midst of the pains and joys of the here and now."

LIFE IN THE CLOUDS

If the only colors you see is through the kaleidoscope

If the only songs you hear are from another's heart

When the only thing that matters is what will be

When this mortal world and you eventually part

You may be living for the promise of forever

And are failing to live the gift of life today

Perhaps it's time to chase your own bright colored
rainbows

And find the spirit to go dancing in the rain

Let the songs you hear be the words you truly feel

Allow the wind to muss your perfect hair

You have been given the chance to romp freely in the fields

And are blessed to know that God is waiting somewhere

The Extreme

The quote is from a Palestinian activist AHMED YASSIN (1939-2004)

Sons of Islam everywhere, the Jihad is a duty...to establish the rule of Allah on earth and to liberate your countries and yourselves from America’s domination and its Zionist allies, it is your battle...either victory or martyrdom.

THE EXTREME

It is my duty to serve Allah

And establish our supremacy

Our women shall be dutiful

And stripped of all their dignity

Our enemies shall be Christians

And don't forget the Jews

We are proud to be dead martyrs

And make the nightly news

Terror will be our priority

The infidel will die

They feel our wrath and power

No peaceful day goes by

We'll behead an innocent hostage

For all the world to see

And threaten all the world

On how brutal we can be

We'll kidnap and rape your women

Kill and torture all your men

We will confiscate your children

And indoctrinate them then

We are Muslim extremists

Jihad is our ultimate cause

We will live and die bringing terror

By distorting Allah's laws

A Bit of Everything

A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences, whether good or bad of even the least of these are far reaching.

Swami Sivananda Indian Philosopher 1887-1963

I'm still in my funk mode.  Must be the weather.

A BIT OF EVERYTHING

Nothing is ever that large, to start

Happenings drift in but break apart

The conglomeration of all that is

So quickly becomes all that was

From Cupid's arrow to broken hearts

Countries thriving once were nothing

But a lot of people with dreams of something

Thoughts and plans and money spent

Elections of hopeful presidents

Around a White House lawn he's strutting

Grains of sand can build a mountain

Drops of water an awesome fountain

Grains of powder can destroy a city

An invention of man, ain't it a pity?

And ghosts of war continue haunting

Since That Day

Suffering breaks our world. Like a tree struck by lighting, splintered, denuded, shaken, our world is broken by suffering and we will never be the same again.

Nathan Kollar

Professor & Author of SONGS OF SUFFERING written 1983

SINCE THAT DAY

Another day of life, it seemed

Until inbound hijacked planes, they screamed

Tragedy took its toll that day

Too much to process in any way

Sorrow became the norm since then

The day the hijacked planes came in

We will never be the same, you see

We are marked by uncertain tragedy

So many lost loved ones, so did we

We became a part of their family

Sadness comes heavy annually

And safety is not a guarantee

Torn in half and the glue won't dry

Many years later we're still asking why

Brutal attacks are a daily event

And feeds our fearful sentiment

It will never be the same for me

Since that day we lost our dignity

But we'll never face it again alone

We've learned Americans embrace their own

IT STILL HURTS

IT STILL HURTS

It hasn't faded a bit from my memory

There is never a day goes by

It doesn't take a documentary

To think about the tragedies in the skies

The lost souls are forever in my heart

As are their haunted survivors

So many lives permanently torn apart

By the evil terror organizers

Think about the day after

How this country again was one

It should have been forever after

From the day the towers came down

Patriots, true Americans, please remember

Say a sincere prayer or two

For innocents lost eleven September

Under skies so clear and blue

Thank the passengers on flight 93

For the actions taken to down the plane

They gave their lives unselfishly

Could any of us do the same?

And yet as we approach this day in history

Terror still reigns throughout the land

We'll always fear another conspiracy

While there are terrorists in command

All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved.

BEHIND THE BATTLES

The awe, it comes, as bombs explode

When mortar fire deafens

The tales remembered are from soldiers told

And the excitement of aggression

What matters first and foremost

Are the greatest battle plans

Drawn in the shadows of the outpost

That a strategic war demands

And the awe of the bombs exploding

Amid tracers all around

Well trained soldiers reloading

And tracking the enemy on the ground

War is not so random

As the chaos it projects

It takes cunning minds and skillful execution

And superior American intellect

Hate Ingrained

SOCRATES:

From the deepest desires often come the deadliest hate.

HATE INGRAINED

People have ingrained in their minds

What their parents and teachers hold near and dear

Imbedded deeply within them we find

Often vile beliefs based on hate and fear

Hate is learned young and nurtured

Generation to generation it grows

And it is obviously passed into the future

On and on what is practiced flows

What will stop a well ingrained cycle of hate?

How can we find blank slates on which to write?

Will there ever be a way to initiate

An earthly peace before we approach the heavenly light?

When Free Speech Hurts

Ward Churchill’s point of view on 9/11.

If U.S. foreign policy results in massive deaths and destruction abroad, we cannot feign innocence when some of that destruction is returned.

WHEN FREE SPEECH HURTS

As evil as Al-Qaida, this American professor

As heartless as ISIS with his views

He is not ashamed to be the confessor

Of the hate for this country he spews

Ward Churchill claims that we deserve

To be bombed for our foreign intervention

And he teaches these views without reserve

And leaves in our children's minds his hateful impression

I consider his words detrimental to our peace

And too extreme for the students he teaches

But, alas, it is all a part of our blanket free speech

It's his right to spread what he preaches

Ironically if he lived under a foreign government he condones

What he thinks and says would be suppressed

In only a matter of time he'd be a bullet riddled pile of bones

For anti-government rhetoric he freely expressed

Our Way

I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almost unbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful.

BOB HOPE 1903-2003

OUR WAY

As the sadness overcomes me

And the loneliness is too much to bear

I think about the best of you

When you were always there

The times we spoke to say the words

Simultaneously in our thoughts

I wonder when it happened

That connection so often sought

So many years together

Even when apart

We shared the same emotions

Beating in two hearts

Now you're gone and I'm still here

But I'll never be alone

You left behind your laughter

And it warms me to the bone

If for a moment I break out crying

Don't worry about my tears

I'll always smile or even laugh

Like we did for thirty-three years

Three Perspectives and a couple if worthy quotes

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change, the realist adjusts the sails.

THREE PERSPECTIVES

Three sailors on deck as the storm comes in

Show how different three people can be

As they face the rain and driving wind

With apprehension., faith, and glee

It is only going to get worse, one complains

No it'll be done before you know it

Just adjust our course against the driving rains

Gather your gear and stow it

I'm afraid with this we are about to die

It's like a roller coaster, we're riding high

Just man your stations and watch the sky

We will all survive with the skills to try

Life's Storms

I watched that 13 Hours special also and really felt the agony and heroism those men experienced. I cried Everytime emotion overtook them as they recounted those painful, terrifying hours.

When the storms of life come, if they come to me personally, to my family or to the world, I want to be strong enough to stand and be a strength to somebody else, be shelter for somebody else. Amme Granham Lotz 1948

LIFE'S STORMS

The storms, they came full force again

Fear gripped us as they violently blew in

They said it would be a monstrous event

The demons of destruction were hell bent

I gathered my family and warned my friends

Went into the basement to escape the winds

My neighbors are always welcome to shelter here

We huddled together, the near and dear

It sounded like the roar of a runaway train

The house itself shook, it was insane

We heard crashing as trees came down

We covered our ears to mute the sound

Things grew silent but for tearful sobs

It was time to view what nature robbed

We thanked The Lord we were all alive

And we're here to see the sun arrive

We climbed the stairs and forced back the clutter

That blocked the doors we sheltered under

At first we thought what we owned was gone

Then remembered we survived and could move on

Neighbors and friends gathered our precious possessions

Left behind from a storm's aggression

Such is life in any circumstance

Life's storms destroy but love's enhanced

Confess

ACTION EXPRESSES PRIORITIES.

Mahatma Ghandi

&

It is not an arrogant government that chooses priorities, it’s an irresponsible government that fails to choose.

Tony Blair

CONFESS

Where is your mind, Barak?

As time is running, tick tock

The roller coaster we are on is climbing the hill

It's just moments before we are plummeting to hell

Where are you now Barak?

Your inattention is just a crock!

ISIS is spreading like a deadly disease

And you do just as you please

Who are you really, Barry?

Your vision for our future is downright scary

Was it your true intention to divide?

What hateful plans do you hold inside?

Barak Obama confess your sins

You are indeed among the Socialist men

Hope and change was your cry

Your administration has been one big lie

Peace

"Peace demands the united efforts of us all. Who can foresee what spark might ignite the fuse."

PEACE

Consider the best days you can remember

Perhaps Thanksgiving some past November

The peace and unity your family felt

Enough to make even the stearnest heart melt

Imagine New Years Eve in Times Square

And all the people happily gathering there

Looking forward, not behind

Peace, hope, harmony on everyone's mind

Look around you at the hate evolving

Division of races, religions, social status revolving

What will it take for more peaceful days?

Can we all make an effort for better ways?

There must be something out there we all could use

Some Ah-hah moment to light the fuse

Millions of someones with hopeful hearts

A point where a peaceful existence can start

War Weary

"Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made in possible for evil to triumph."

Haile Selassie Ethiopian Statesman 1892-1975

WAR WEARY

I am weary of war and dread to see

That our troops are once again to be deployed

But it has come a time that most agree

It is time extreme measures must be employed

Terror is at an all time high

Murderous atrocities beyond the pale

Threats by ISIS are our battle cry

This time our statement must not fail

While ISIS and Al-Qaeda thumb their nose

We can no longer sit idly by

They are behind the deaths of innocent souls

Again hijacked planes may fill the sky

Yes, I am weary of on-going wars

And  the boots of our soldiers on the ground

But it is time the cause is worth fighting for

And the murderous extremists must go down

The Here and Now, Here's Why

Two quotes from a British Writer, RICHARD WHATELY, 1787-1863.

"As one may bring himself to believe almost anything he is inclined to believe it makes all the difference whether we begin or end with the inquiry, “what is truth?”

WHAT IS TRUTH?

Based upon the ideals of the parents

A child is reared to know

What the parents believe will be

Because what they say is so

In the modern indoctrination we see

In our schools and beyond

When the ideals will drastically differ

How will the youth respond?

Adhering to mandates of the state

Of a government out of control

It's no wonder that our citizens

Are confused as how to roll

Do they roll on in the shadow of parents

Whose ideology is stamped in stone?

Or do they revert to what the schools teach?

Liberalism overblown!

Will they be rolled over by a government

Blindly falling into step?

Will anyone embrace their own free will

And escape the cage in which they are kept?

What is truth but the logical answers

Known only when there are questions asked

And the logical people willing to stand bold

And take the oppressors all to task

AND!

"It is neglect of timely repair that makes rebuilding necessary."

LIVING IN A CRUMBLING SOCIETY

Naive and insensitive, lazy and feeling scorned

Allowing the world to crumble in the midst of humanity torn

Seeing what happens over there, believing there it will stay

Hoarding our opinions, afraid of what we'll say

Insensitive or ultra-sensitive to feelings

Or too in touch, demanding healing

Of the self-inflicted damnation of some

Certain that they are the persecuted ones

Women, race, ethnic background, social status

The tools of division in the government apparatus

Faith is questioned and demonized

Religion coming more in strange disguises

In the name of humanity where have we gone wrong

That they have banned the singing of patriotic songs?

And God is locked outside the gate

Of the country now existing in a decaying stalemate?

In a CRUMBLING SOCIETY  we are resigned to dwell

Now is it a fact this is a living hell?

Political correctness has gone too far

And we are suspended in the state we are

In Enemy Territory

"One ought to never turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run from it. If you do that you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching you will reduce the danger in half. Never run away from ANYTHING! NEVER!" Winston Churchill

IN ENEMY TERRITORY

Allied soldiers in the bushes crouch

Guns are ready, bayonets are mounted

With hate filled eyes they scan the horizon

For the terrorists who will set their guns a-blazing

Day time drags and night will come

Anticipation wanes in everyone

The soldiers waiting now experience fatigue

Yet they fight to stay alert, crouched within the trees

The sound of enemy vehicles in the distant hills

Foot soldiers marching from kill to kill

The devastation they have left behind

Put out of sight and out of mind

Yesterday they had been the aggressor

Killing, maiming, raping...it was their pleasure

The terror they put on innocents tell

The extent of what their leaders sell

Shots ring out as the terrorist convoy passes by

Grenades send shrapnel into the sky

"Allah Akbar" they shout as they shamefully engage us

The visions of their massacres continue to enrage us

We are soldiers here to stop their surge

Into Christian and Jewish villages they intend to purge

Wrecking havoc with evil intent

With twisted meanings the Koran had sent

Our eyes show hate and at moments fear

As we fight this enemy over here

Hoping beyond hope that back home we're safe

Unlike the daily terror these countries face

The Devoted

"In the joy of sharing each other’s success, and in the comfort of sharing each other’s sorrows, may be found the reward for having lived and having fought another day."

THE DEVOTED

Amid all the celebrations my life has brought

And with all the lessons just living taught

During the sorrow that just being brings

And in the aftermath of worst of things

There are pieces all around me strewn

Confetti from celebrations blown

Bits and pieces of what once was me

Exposed for all the world to see

Amid it all there is always you

Picking up my mess after each to do

A smile, a hug, no judgement there

Without questions, beside me anywhere
