Wars

"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars." -Khalil Gibran

Is it true that suffering makes for stronger souls?

Then why do so many soldiers return from war broken and weak?

They must kill and maim to achieve a goal

And come home holding in visions of which they will never speak

"For we pay a price for everything we get or take in this world; and although ambitions are well worth having, they are not to be cheaply won." -Lucy Maud Montgomery

"Although freedom was an awesome gift for we the people, it has been oh so expensive to maintain." M. Beatty

"Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime." -Ernest Hemingway

"Are we villains for choosing to send our soldiers into war knowing some will die? Are we murderers or complisent in that crime?" M. Beatty
