THE FALLEN PRESIDENT
Respected was he by the good people
Rejected by those with evil in their hearts
Through him people of color would shed their chains
And someday become citizens with a brand new start
A bullet dropped Lincoln one day, so sadly
John Wilkes Booth pulled the trigger in that crime
What was in his heart and mind to act so madly
And become such a villain of his time
Now Lincoln belongs to the ages
History will remember him well
Now Lincoln belongs to the angels
And his murderer will rot in hell
