The Battle Plan

A reflective reading of history will show that no man ever rose to military greatness who could not convince his troops that he put them first, above all else.

General Maxwell Taylor

1901-1987

"Brave soldiers do not fight their best when they are an afterthought. When their generals and commander-in-chief sends them into battle with everything they need and with every confidence they can instill, our soldiers will be more powerful than any bombs our planes can drop. War is personal." M. Beatty

"Battle plans are not only made to defeat the enemy, they are to insure our troops that the general has every intention to win and that the preservation of his troops are in his highest priority." M. Beatty

THE BATTLE PLAN

He sends them into battle

With confidence and flair

He is the leader in the saddle

Sword waving in the air

His soldiers are his sons

And the daughters he must protect

As the battle has begun

On this he will reflect...

"I planned my mission carefully

With intent to win this war

But my soldiers fighting unselfishly

The ones I send into this storm

Are the reason I plan so meticulously

That they receive the least if harm

The victory is secondary

To the troops I dare to arm"
