Independent Wisdom

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." CONFUCIOUS

INDEPENDENT WISDOM

Tell me and I shall forget

Words are slippery, to my regret

Just another tale that may surface eventually

Not a true source of mine, intellectually

I am apt to remember what I see

But names can escape faces in all reality

So many photos I have in my head

Too many words from books I have read

But let my hands mold the clay

Allow me to trip on the bumps along the way

Wisdom and knowledge are firmly imbedded

Along the path I walk towards the purpose I'm headed

When I have walked the shore

Felt the spray and watched the gulls soar

When the world with my eyes has been thoroughly scanned

Then, my friend, I WILL understand

TRUE WISDOM

quote by Confucius..."By three methods we learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is the noblest; second, by imitation, which is the easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

TRUE WISDOM

From what will all his wisdom come?

Of his self reflection should it be?

Must he learn from what he has said and done?

To alter his true identity?

Such a noble search reflection reveals

A good man will find himself inside

Should he find deeds that are best concealed

Tainted truth can't bring him pride

Is his wisdom a source of imitation?

Just a clone of things he met along the road?

A wise man holds his own revelation

From his own experiences, not what he is told

A great man of wisdom is well traveled and tried

Calloused hands, a tired soul

Wisdom earned from scars inside

A man holding knowledge from actions bold

This Man Obama

" Look at the means which a man employs, consider his motives, observe his pleasures. A man simply cannot conceal himself." Confucius

THIS MAN OBAMA

His words often led to convoluted lies

He was apt to be a bit obtuse

His minions scramble to quantify

As his credibility is often reduced

His motives seemed righteous and in good direction

Are his antics something we wanted to see?

No, we weren't looking for sheer perfection

Just someone we wished our leader could be

What gives him pleasure and satisfaction

Are things that proved not quite our style

His deeds were just a ruse to cause distraction

There is an evil grin behind his smile

He may fool the people who refuse to see

But his trail leaves facts to his reveal

He reeks of a phoney identity

Too blasphemous to forever conceal

His agenda has led us to devastation

While wrapped in a cloak he wooed and charmed

Now we are acting in pure desperation

To right his acts that caused us harm

TIME

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." Henry Van Dyke (1852-1933)

TIME

Ticking ticking ticking

Time is unremitting

For those who are awaiting

An event worth celebrating

Too fast the hands are flying

For those in fear of dying

The clock is hard to face

As our life picks up its pace

Too long the time it seems

When a loss a person grieves

Forever frozen on the day

Your loved one went away

When it is time to raise our voice

At a place where we rejoice

Time is short for celebration

As it cuts short our exhilaration

Yet time will choose to cooperate

When love we all will propagate

An eternity time will give

When we agree to love and live

Progress

I guess he's saying to get to it...not quite sure! If all you can do is crawl...THEN CRAWL...start crawling, but get started with it.

PROGRESS

Be what you are at the stage you are at

Do what you can if you can at least do that

Crawl if you will if it is all you can do

But don't let yourself stall in the present of you

Crawl until you walk when you acquire the skill

Walk until you can run if you have the will

Reach the finish line as a person who has grown

Fill in the gaps questioning the unknown

Time

Khalil Gibran...

"Time has been transformed, and we have changed; it has advanced us and set us in motion; it has unveiled its face, inspiring us with bewilderment and exhilaration."

Time is easily spent, wasted, when we are young and hopeful. It is so much more treasured when there is not so much more of it left in our life account. M. Beatty

TIME

Time...just a word?

The first gift we received upon our birth

So easy to waste

So prone to haste

Not treasured so much when we are young

Time...just a noun?

A commodity not taken for granted

In the twilight of your years

Not easy to surrender

When nearly gone

And memories of the time you spent

Are now approaching midnight instead of dawn

Your Kingdom

Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present." Marcus Aurelius

YOUR KINGDOM

Be the knight in armor

Astride a fearless beast

Be the sweating farmer

Who provides the kingdom's feast

Be the crafty magician

Who waves a magic wand

Be the mathematician

Who balances all the odds

Be the jester of the courtyard

Who's humor breaks the tension

Be the one to safeguard

Against those who cause dissention

Be the keeper of your kingdom

And serve your people well

Don't lead them to extinction

Or through the gates of hell

Compromise

Winston Churchill..."If we open a quarrel between past and present, we shall find that we have lost the future."

COMPROMISE

Hold fast to our founding principles

With the greatest of resolve

Go forth with valid changes

So our country can evolve

But make the changes go hand in hand

With what our founders had in mind

We can't argue with our past

And leave the best of it behind

Let not charismatic orators

Convince you of drastic change

For to base our future on  someone's dreams

Is for our heritage to estrange

Speak to the past in terms of respect

For all the good it holds

Agree with the past for compromise

With relevant changes in the fold

Keeping It Real

Life is a gift and the moments with friends and loved ones is worth the bad things that come our way.

If you think of life in terms of smelly, dirty socks you are missing out on a whole great atmosphere of clean fresh air.

If you see only smokestacks and garbage filled streets you have never seen the majesty of mountain peaks

If you have no control over the directions of your thoughts and perceptions

You are destined to live in the dump in which you let your mind put you.

BLESSINGS

Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing, or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort that life implies." Erich Fromm

BLESSINGS

Can a moment of despair erase a lifetime of dreams, come true?

Can one bad day overshadow your many days in the sun?

Can one person's ugly words belie the friends you always knew?

Will one failure leave you feeling your many accomplishments undone?

Will negatives in your thoughts impact the positives around you?

Can you be the only one yourself is constantly contesting?

Then take a moment and let the miracle of God's creation astound you

It's time to absorb your many blessings.

I Once Was

"Everybody needs his memories. They keep the wolf of insignificance from the door. Saul Bellow

I ONCE WAS

Today I am just me

In a place not chosen to be

Just where I landed, not in my dreams

So insignificant, it seems

Just one of many, average at best

Not the worst, but beneath the rest

No one inspires to be like me

In a massive forest an average tree

Alone in my darkness of near despair

I find my memories lurking there

It appears to me I've had my turn

And lived my life from stem to stern

Only insignificant in my own mind

Even though the best I've left behind

That's why memories were invented, you see

To prove your status in society

I once had my chance to shine

Now it's my time to move aside

I accept I peaked and that's because

I'll always have memories of what I was

Waste Not

"Every man dies. Not every man lives." William Wallace

WASTE NOT

All the splendid colors I've seen

All the warm fresh air I breathed

All the vigorous chill I felt

Waiting for the snow to melt

All the spring flowers I have viewed

Things I could, not just what I should

All the summer's vacation spots

What I did, and not did not

I've thought of death from time to time

But mostly it was quite sublime

I have a plateful of life to taste

A not a precious moment to waste

Discovering My Purpose

Henry David Thoreau...

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

DISCOVERING MY PURPOSE

I did not come to this meadow

To languish without thought

I came to find my way

In the lessons I was taught

I did not enter the forest

To find darkness among the trees

I came to find some solitude

And hope God would hear my pleas

I did not climb the mountain

To prove I was the best

I sit here atop this mountain

Because I passed my private test

I did not wade into the ocean

For the tide to sweep me away

I went to catch a massive wave

And return to face my day

I did not enter this world

To wait my way through life

I came to live it fully

Through pleasure and through strife

I will not walk into the desert

To find a place to die

Just to find me looking back

At a life that was a lie

Fate

Buddha...

"I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act."

That's what I'm talking a out! Action equals reaction. Is the reaction fate?

I guess I am overthinking fate and choice. To me it is like the who's first, the chicken or the egg?  Impossible to answer except for with the belief we are all God's creations the chicken had to come before her offspring, the egg.

FATE

Are we to not ever meet our fate

Should not a step we dare to take?

If we remain idle would fate seek us out?

Is it predetermined without a doubt?

Can fate be avoided with choices made?

Or with the words we often prayed?

Were we destined to find a particular romance?

Were we born to meet a circumstance?

Perhaps what refalls us is meant to be

Simply put, our destiny.

What will happen will be without a notion

Or was it a choice that set it all in motion?

THE TRUTH OF MORTAL FREE WILL

Here is a quote to ponder...

"If there was no free will in men, then there is no sins. When sins happened, it was free will that made them doable. This is true, unless God has predestined humans to do and to have sins." Toba Beta author of MASTER OF STUPIDITY.

THE TRUTH OF MORTAL FREE WILL

God made us in His image, true

But let our hearts and souls be our own

Our course in life and what we do

Are mortal traits not set in stone

The gift of free will that formed a person

Results in goodness, but also of sin

No one's character is for certain

The result of a mortal is where he's been

Had God withheld us of free will

Goodness in all would be self contained

Our righteousness would need no skill

And in God's image we would all be saints

The Hungry Child

"When the state or federal government control the education of all our children, they have the dangerous and illegitimate monopoly to control and influence the thought process of our citizens." Michael Badnank

THE HUNGRY CHILD

I'm a hungry child for knowledge I crave

I'm programmed to learn from cradle to grave

With all my heart I beseech thee

Be diligent and please teach me

Teach me the truth of my history

Don't leave my past a mystery

Let me know how to add and divide

I want to speak well and have some pride

Please don't soak with me with your ideology

Let me choose the course of my theology

You'd have my sincere appreciation

If you would refrain from more indoctrination

I am the future and beg to reach thee

Please make it true what ye shall teach me

God presented you children, fresh and bold

The brightest future for which to behold

Heart Over Mind

"When dealing with people, remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion." Dale Carnegie

HEART OVER MIND

It has been my insight in reference to human emotion

The mind is so easily manipulated, so drawn to irrational commotion

Even the brightest of all humanity

Can have his heart interfere with his own reality

The mind that holds the key to his logic, I fear

Is manipulated by love and hate, it's clear

Would a heart which deep in darkness swings

Induce the mind to evil things?

Crooked Politicians

"These things will destroy the human race: politics without principle, progress without compassion, wealth without work, learning without silence, religion without featlessness and worship without awareness." Anthony de Mello (1931-1937) A priest and psychotherapist from Mambai, India

CROOKED POLITICIANS

Have ye no principles, Mr. Politician?

How can your misdeeds make your country strong?

You are tearing down the foundation it was founded upon

Am I wrong?

How can you move us forward when you have no compassion?

Does not the pursuit of happiness ring true in your mind?

Your selfish votes show inhumane disregard

How can you be so unkind?

Does the wealth that you gain off the back of constituents

Cause you joy without regret?

You were chosen to represent us, not steal from the people

How soon did you forget?

Yet there you sit high in life so superior

Having sworn on the Bible to serve

You've prospered from your seat of representation

Sir, have you no honest nerve?

The Poet In Me

"Poetry may make us from time to time a little more aware of the deeper, unnamed feelings which form the substratum of our being to which we rarely penetrate ; for our lives are mostly a constant evasion of ourselves." T.S. Eliot

THE POET IN ME

I have a mirror in my life that shows my reflection

My words are the self portrait I paint

My awareness is intense as I grasp for a sentence

That portrays me as a failure or a saint

My mind wraps around the letters that form

The words I construe to be

The story of my will, wants, needs, and beliefs

I am grateful for the poet in me

My Path

"When one has the feeling of dislike for evil, when one feels tranquil, one finds pleasure in listening to good teachings; when one has these feelings and appreciates them, one is free of fear."

MY PATH

I am the one to reject evil

Goodness makes my life  serene

I have no use for the devil

And avoid the nasty and mean

Tranquility in my life is my peace

What I learn from the masters I treasure

I appreciate what life has to teach

Nature as a whole is my pleasure

When negative temptation stands before me

I just turn and walk away

I'm aware enough to recognize the evil I see

And strong enough to keep it at bay

Although fear is a commonality of man

There is no reason to hand over control

Courage need not be an extraordinary stand

Just enough to keep cowardice from your soul

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT EVIL

Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster." Sun Tzu

WHEN YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT EVIL

There will always be enemies among us

And battles to be waged

It is up to the people to know

When to stand down or engage

Would we be best to stand our ground?

When should we attack?

Will the threat before us wane

And we should be holding back?

It is best to know our enemies

Put ourself into their shoes

Before we point our fingers

Threaten or accuse

Some battles are won with force, you see

Most are won with detente

Understanding an enemies capability

Is knowing what we are not

While We Looked Away

"The state can be and has often been in the course of history the main source of mischief and disaster." Mises

WHILE WE LOOKED AWAY

The truth is there's a need

For the government our forefathers created

But to make the republic succeed

Small government is celebrated

We the People at our best

Had our eyes on legislation

But now we're in a mess

With apathy and indoctrination

The truth is we lost sight

Of the duty to oversee

A powerful government might

Encroach upon our liberty

While we looked away

Progressive politics began to spread

The future is in decay

And chains are ours instead

Lies and Empty Promises

"The man who promises everything is sure to fulfill nothing, and everyone who promises too much is in danger using evil means in order to carry out his promises, and is already on the road to perdition."

Lies are a poor foundation for success. Empty promises are a box full of defeat. The liar will eventually fall as the foundation based on lies collapses.  And no matter how far he carries the box full of empty promises, in the end the box will still be  empty and the liar will be disgraced. M. Beatty

Obamahope & Change

Socrates said..."False words are not only evil in themselves, but they infect the soul with evil."

OBAMAHOPE AND CHANGE

He came upon the scene riding high

On a pleasing personality

People fell in love with his demeanor

But inside him hid a dark reality

Words of hope and change were tossed around

Promises the people would embrace

But in office there was was no hope just drastic change

His actions put our country in disgrace

The lies he told we wanted to believe

But his actions led us toward a bitter goal

An inept leader Obama proved to be

His ideology planted evil in his soul

Cover-ups and lies a daily matter

And his minions rallied around him in the task

The country is teetering on collapse

There are no answers to the questions that we ask

Scandals became abundant in public view

Confront him, he says it isn't so

When proven wrong  without a doubt he always says

It was never his intent, he didn't know

More and more his agenda is in peril

And there is hope he might not achieve his final goal

Can we rebound from eight years of total chaos?

Or will this country forever feel it's final toll?

The People in the Distance

Plato: "The price of apathy toward public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."

THE PEOPLE IN THE DISTANCE

The joy of liberty now so immediately in peril

Ignorance and apathy still prevail

The people watching at a distance say

"It's just another period of hard times"

Nothing can befall the most powerful of nations

That would bring her to her knees

The people watching at a distance say

"Let the patriots do their duty, we'll be fine"

As the evil men elected settle in

And transform our beloved country into a cowering welfare state

The people watching at a distance say

"Where is my freedom? This place is no longer mine!"

Economy crashed and irreparable

Jobs at a premium while fat cats sit in power

The people in the distance say

"Who let this happen? Where were the signs?"

Letting Our Legacy Die

We have the greatest opportunity the world has ever seen, as long as we remain honest--which will be as long as we can keep the attention of our people alive. IF they once BECOME INATTENTIVE to public affairs, you and I, and congress and assemblies, judges, and governors would all become wolves." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

LETTING OUR LEGACY DIE

It is easy to become complacent, I know

As opportunities come more often than they go

But the wolves are always out there

Glaring eyes in a hungry stare

Waiting for the winds of dissension to blow

Americans have always had an edge, you see

Living lives of liberty

With freedom taken for granted now

The wolves bare their teeth with a menacing growl

Just waiting for their own opportunity

There have always been traitors among our own

Socialist tendencies for which they're prone

Infiltrating our government with campaign lies

And we are too gullible to scrutinize

They grow their government on testosterone

How far do we as people fall

Before someone picks up the ball?

Unquestioned trust will do us in

The overthrow is genuine

And we missed it written on the wall

Too late the reality is in store

In tears the people have shown remorse

But our legacy has forever died

And now the people's hands are tied

The Constitution is no more

The Obama Legacy

People are afraid to speak up for fear of being labeled by the radical left as a racist or as an obstructionist. Anywhere where they can not present a fact to support their argument they will bring out the mud balls and start tossing away. J.T.DIxon

The most obvious reflection of a liar is the vulgarity of the names he calls his opposition instead of standing fast on his facts. M. Beatty

Promises without the reward are uncovered when derogatory labels are all that the liar has left to give. M. Beatty

THE OBAMA LEGACY

He won the election based on promises sold

Gained a following with the lies that he told

Used his trickery to pass his laws

Enacted his mandates to strengthen his cause

He showed his true colors when schemes were exposed

More and more of the people want him deposed

The scandals he covered up caused such division

Finally the people realized the danger of his vision

He dropped like a bomb in the polls that were taken

No longer trusted, this president was forsaken

The goals that he had were now clearly a bust

His power fell fast when his plan turned to dust

WE WON'T BE SILENCED!

a word from supreme court justice William O. Douglas...

"Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversion. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us."

Once the government can silence the people and defame their truth it will control the people and own the country. M. Beatty

WE WON'T BE SILENCED

Decry my words and stifle my warnings

Call me a traitor, a racist, a bigot

Once you have stopped the flow of my truth

You'll be the one in control of the spigot

But as long as I can stand and have half a mind

I won't be falling for your lies

And there will be others standing in my line

And we'll protect our liberty with our battle cries

Mindless Games

Quote from Voltaire..."It is clear that the individual who persecutes a man, his brother, because he is not of the same opinion, is a monster."

Those who throw negative labels at people who do not share their opinion are just afraid their own opinion won't stand up to a debate. M. Beatty

MINDLESS GAMES

Place your labels on me, if you must

It is because your own ideals you really mistrust

Call me a bigot, a racist, any derogatory name

It's only the truth you defame

Tell everyone I am the one to hate

It's because your ideals can't stand up to debate

You are not the Teflon you think you are

And the lie you ride is just a falling star

Social Justice...the Life Sentence

"I am certain that nothing has done so much to destroy the juridical safeguards of individual freedom as the striving after this mirage of social justice." Friedrich August von Hayek (1899-1992)

SOCIAL JUSTICE...THE LIFE SENTENCE

Born in a world where rights were king

And taught by my parents the best to bring

Working my mind overtime to make the grade

Preparing for success once my bed is made

Then progressive politicians were handed the deck

And all I can do is bet or check

Anything left I am mandated to share

With those who had no intention to get anywhere

Everyone knows social justice is an impossibility

When there are only a few who take responsibility

Status is made by the people who earn

And work their days while at night they learn

Social justice is a jail of sorts

Mass life sentences without a court

For those with no will the fact remains

They are oblivious to their ball and chain

Ain't No End Until the Game is Done

"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." Elie Wiesel

Even of you are trapped in a pit of wild tigers and know your fate you won't go out without a fight. M. Beatty

AIN'T NO END UNTIL THE GAME IS DONE

When your brakes fail at the top of a mountain

And you have nowhere to turn

There ain't no one sittin' in the car who are doubtin'

In the end they will crash and burn

But until the end is inches away

Your feet are a pumpin' that brake

And even the passengers can't look away

Still prayin' to God for Heaven's sake

When a crooked politician is elected

And the congress is on his side

You are stuck with who is selected

But you still can't run and hide

There is always a chance in hell

That a patriot can find a way

To find more like him to answer the bell

And rush in to save the day

There ain't no end until the game is over

If you keep bettin' until you're broke

There is no truce until you run for cover

And the final word is spoke

A Mind Lost

"Every mind was made for growth, for knowledge, and its nature is sinned against when it is doomed to ignorance." W.E. Channing

A MIND LOST

Oh, what a gift we have

With a mind like a sponge

That has an infinite capacity

For the knowledge we indulge

Yet how many choose to waste it

Absorbing stories that have no facts

Learning wrong directions

And holding them intact

How many of us waste the space

Of the mind that should be used

Failing to absorb the truth around us

And hoarding lies accrued

Rejecting vital information

Meant to self improve

A mind is a terrible thing to waste

On what God would disapprove

Smart Ass

.Mark Twain once said that "The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so."

SMART ASS

So you think that you're the smart one

With a mind that's fit to go

You've filled yourself with knowledge

And think you're in the know

But in reality

All you have to show

Is the bull crap that gets spread around

That clearly isn't so

Armed and Ready

Lao Tzu...."People are difficult to govern because the have too much knowledge."

ARMED AND READY

We the People who stand on our rights

Shall be the ones forever to defend them

As long as we maintain the truth

Before a government can amend them

But we must always realize

To prevent a life of bondage

We should uphold a keen intelligence

And be armed with continuing knowledge

Private militia and arms at hand

May be a form of self defense

But all the guns and ammunition had

Are only effective with common sense

The Key to Goodness

Socrates... "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."

THE KEY TO GOODNESS

Beat, my heart, drive the blood

The sustenance of life and body

Feed my mind so that I might

Nourish it with knowledge

Be not, my heart, to let me be

One to waste my vital consciousness

To be one who will linger in

The darkness known as ignorance

Restricted

Dr. Dyer said...Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life as you choose. Anything less is a form of slavery."

RESTRICTED

It is reasonable to accept some laws

Meant as guidelines for a civilized society

But when government mandates restrict my will

It is apt to increase my anxiety

When free market becomes a directive

That limits my self respect

When the government boot leaves prints on my neck

That, my fellow countrymen, I refuse to accept

When my life becomes a humongous glass slide

Under our own government's microscope

When laws are made by executive order

My tolerance  level goes beyond how I cope

If government has become my master

Is it not slavery to their cause?

It is then I will fight the proverbial chains

And I will choose to disobey their laws

That Would Be Me

"Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him." Wayne W. Dwyer

THAT WOULD BE ME

I'm not the rainbow of colors in the mist you see

Nor am I that proverbial pot of gold

The storm and it's aftermath is not my creator

How I handled its wrath, now that would be me

I was never the sun, I was never the moon

I was never the victim of circumstance

I'm who was standing here after the fact

With my character revealed, now that would be me

GIVING UP?

"You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you." Brian Tracy

GIVING UP?

When life has you by the throat

Or your future is out of reach

Time has become the master

You have submitted to its siege

When you are cowering in the corner

Finding life too hard to face

Or your back is up against the wall

In the darkest time or place

You have surrendered to the moment

That had you on the run

You have stopped and turned around

To admit you're finally done

As time looks at you the loser

It begins to point and laugh

You realize your courage

Had at times been understaffed

You call in reinforcements

Of any courage you can find

Realizing the brutality of life

Was just a state of mind

Without a Map

"So they got us surrounded, GOOD! Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards won't get away this time."

WITHOUT A MAP

I ran in one direction

From perceived enemies of mine

It proved to be a dead end

Because I didn't see the sign

I sprinted off to find the way

Again another wall

I circled back around again

In a ravine I took a fall

I climbed out on my hands and knees

Accepting every branch

I went too far and lo and behold

I didn't have a chance

I stopped to take a breath

And take some time to think

I was offered a juicy apple

What looked like some kind of snake

I got my wits collected

I turned and walked away

I asked for some direction

When I found the chance to pray

Immediately a door was opened

I was invited to step in

I was offered quiet respit

From the times I chose to sin

At worst my time was wasted

On so many thoughtless turns

At best I found the high way

In the lessons that I learned

I had begun my journey

With no guidance from above

The only map I needed

Was to reach out for His love

So Sophisticated

Leonardo DaVinci once said "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

SO SOPHISTICATED

Your tee shirt and jeans

If not in imitation

By all means

Is your sophistication

It is better than threads of gold

Adorned on the phoney

And better to ride a common horse

Than a lavish wooden pony

Celebrate the Simple

"There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth." Tolstoy

CELEBRATE THE SIMPLE

Celebrate the simple

Relax in quiet respit

Relish all the goodness

Reject what makes us desperate

Embrace what to be true

Cast away the lies

Let the best in life be you

And not some convoluted disguise

WISHES ARE FOR THE YOUNG

"Not until we are forced with a crises or sadness do we begin to remember that if we only laughed a bit more, loved a lot more, and felt the simplicity of loving ourselves-just a little more...this day would be the greatest day ever." Lee Pryke

WISHES ARE FOR THE YOUNG

It came to me one day

In the most painful diagnosis

For long I could not stay

Was the final sad prognosis

I wish I would have laughed harder

I wish I had loved a lot stronger

I should have been a self starter

I wish I could have lived longer

Wishes are for the present

For future wants and desires

Not for a convalescent

With the reality of waning fires

Be the best, live the most

I wish I had been the one

To laugh and sing and make a toast

Before my time had come

K.I.S.S.

Leonardo DaVinci once said

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

K.I.S.S.

Machines are roaring in my head

Traffic is at an all time high

Stopping and starting and speeding and stalling

People always screaming "Let me by!"

My cell phone follows me everywhere

If has become an extension of my very being

Texting and calling and status updating

How much of my life is it stealing

Nature is left to be viewed

On a screen in a room indoors

Games are now left to be played

On the same screen as nature, of course

What has happened to hiking and playing in the the woods?

Does anyone play hide and seek anymore?

Have we left behind all the living we should?

Has technology put us behind closed doors?

It Is We Not Me

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow man. Herman Melville

IT IS WE NOT ME

It's not ours to hoard as our own

Our influence is ours to share

If it is one thing that should be known

Our life is everyone's just by being there

The threads are much stronger than they seem

And they tangle with each life we touch

Things mix in the water while moving downstream

Intermingling our moods and our ideals and such

Unity is a fact of life we should know

To each is not truly our own

Gathering facts and lies as we go

We are all everyone when we finally have grown

In the Distance

To know how to grow old is the master work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living. Herman Melville.

IN THE DISTANCE

Something in the distance was never on my mind

I was too busy being vital and young

Life was so livable, love was so givable

Stars were reached for and bells were rung

Something in the distance grew nearer in time

When responsibilities were at the height of my existence

Life still a pleasure, family a treasure

I could see it approaching but showed my resistance

Something that had been only slightly on my mind

Found its ways into my thoughts each day

Aching bones and a slowing steps reminded me

The truth of my demise was inching its way

It is very near now and I find myself wondering

Did I make the best of what time had to give?

If there is one legacy I want to leave behind

It is to be, enjoy, love life, and live

I Have Found My Bliss

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I love most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person. Audrey Hepburn

I HAVE FOUND MY BLISS

Eureka! I have found the cure!

The elixer that helps me now endure

The pitfalls that life throws my way

The events in which I have no say

Alas I've discovered a lasting truth

Like life inside the kissing booth

Is this a simple cure that finally found me?

Humorous people all around me
