Thank a Vet

"History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave men and women in our armed forces. Throughout history, they’ve answered the call in bravery and sacrifice."

Tim Pawlenty 1960 American Politician

THANK A VET

No one wants to say goodbye

To mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives

And surely they don't wish to die

But will volunteer unselfishly in times of strife

There never, ever seems to be

A shortage of brave Americans

When there comes a threat to liberty

They will brave the seas and hottest sands

They have suffered in jungles, been shot down in planes

Some had lost their dearest friend

They have taken bullets and been driven insane

When they come home for some the war will never end

It seems such a small gesture

When asked to thank a vet

There doesn't seem to be a measure

For the gratitude our veterans ought to get
