I'm White, Seeing Red, and Feeling Blue

Spiro Agnew who served as Vice-President under Richard Nixon said:

"Yippies, Hippies, Yahoos, Black Panthers, Lions and Tigers alike----I would swap the whole damn zoo for the kind of young Americans I saw in Vietnam."

I'M WHITE, SEEING RED, AND FEELING BLUE

The attention they would seek

When their time was at its peak

Permeated our tv screens

With outrageous, sometimes violent scenes

You must wonder who they are today

Now that yuppies and hippies have gone away

It is surely not a mystery

They had left their mark on history

Black panthers drove a racial wedge

Amid the goodness of Dr. Kings solemn pledge

Someday we would walk together

And color would not matter

Lives of icons we embraced

By assassin's bullets would be erased

JFK, Bobby, and Martin how

Would you see our country now?

That kind of leadership is rare at best

We continue to settle for less and less

With our treasury so overdrawn

Where has all the prosperity gone?

In the forties we were proud to fight

And understood a veteran's plight

Once patriots well supported

Today their troubles are under-reported

The attention that they garner

The far left loons that drag us under

Aren't they the hippies from yesteryear

Who demeaned the country that most held dear?

Black Panthers still divide us

Politicians override us

Half the population strives

While the other half just stays alive

Two cars in every garage, the hope

Now two welfare modes in life to cope

In darkness we must hide away

It's the only place we have to pray

But pray, I will and must

I still believe In God We Trust

Though knocked down I won't surrender to

The destruction of red, white, and blue
