It Comes in the Shadows

And Marcus Tullius Cicero said this:

"The function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil."

IT COMES IN THE SHADOWS

It comes in the shadows of ignorance

It hides in the folds of "I don't care"

It can be here within what you choose not to know

Or in the breeze of wasted time in the air

Evil hides and sneaks and enters

As seeds of ignorance between right and wrong

And only continued knowledge can defend your morals

That keep the righteousness within you strong

MR. POLITICIAN

"I am in politics because of the conflict between good and evil, and I believe that in the end good will prevail."

Margaret Thatcher 1925-2013

MR. POLITICIAN

Politician, ask yourself this

Is serving as a patriot your bliss?

Did you run for the money and cushy job?

Is it our coffers you intend to rob?

Will you be our voice or ignore our pleas?

Or choose the lobbyists to appease?

Will you serve your term in dignity?

Or fall into some complicentcy?

Will you consider laws based on common sense

Or mandate all at our expense?

Will evil become the goal you chase

As you become a champion of time to waste?

If you are a true upstanding soul

And make serving your country your ultimate goal

Then run, please do, as our selection

Our representative in this election

WHAT TO WEAR?

"Circumstances are beyond human control, but our conduct is in our own power."

Benjamin Disraeli British Statesman 1804-1881

WHAT TO WEAR?

As I reach my limits in tedium

And boredom affects my actions

Which entity on my shoulder

Will influence my direction?

Will I listen to the devilish imp

Who definitely leads me to go astray?

Will I heed the ever-present angel's advice

To color my canvas a brand new way?

Will the devil convince me to be sullen

And cause others around me to fret

Will the angel prod me to get on with it

And enjoy what a good life begets?

Circumstance is beyond my control

In nearly every case

But it is up to me to chose to wear

A smile upon my face

At Last a Mountain

"No one is so brave that he is not disturbed by something unexpected."

Julius Caesar Roman Leader 100 BC-44BC

AT LAST A MOUNTAIN

We plan our day for logical transitions

Yet some days there comes a glitch

Life is not one of tedious repetition

It changes for good or bad, we'll never know which

Should we dwell on such a disturbance

That will cause erasure in our plans?

Should we find a healthy resurgence

In the twists and turns that life demands?

On so we go so we go so we go

Only a mountain can stop our onward trek

It is with this truth we will somehow know

What the mountain will be is circumspect

Thank a Vet

"History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave men and women in our armed forces. Throughout history, they’ve answered the call in bravery and sacrifice."

Tim Pawlenty 1960 American Politician

THANK A VET

No one wants to say goodbye

To mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives

And surely they don't wish to die

But will volunteer unselfishly in times of strife

There never, ever seems to be

A shortage of brave Americans

When there comes a threat to liberty

They will brave the seas and hottest sands

They have suffered in jungles, been shot down in planes

Some had lost their dearest friend

They have taken bullets and been driven insane

When they come home for some the war will never end

It seems such a small gesture

When asked to thank a vet

There doesn't seem to be a measure

For the gratitude our veterans ought to get

Be the Voice

"The living owe it to those who no longer can speak to tell their story."

CZESLAW MILOSZ Polish Poet 1911-2004

BE THE VOICE

When you think if the hard times our ancestors endured

Blood that flowed for what they thought was for good

Is it right that we let their voices fall silent?

They'd be telling their stories if they only could

Let us be their voices for reasons they died

On battlefields to ward off injustice

If we know what they meant let's share it with all

Their passion should be cause for our notice

Counting Blessings

PRAYER

"You pray in your distress and in your need; would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance."

KHALIL GIBRAN

COUNTING BLESSINGS

Dear God, hi, I'm just checking in

I'm awful sorry that it is usually about scrapes I've been in

But I feel so blessed today, I don't really know why

I just came to realize that life gets me high

With my coffee in my hand, on the porch I am sitting

Thinking about time wasted on things not worth regretting

After all, my mistakes have been for life's lessons

Doesn't that make my errors more like blessings?

The breeze feels good and sounds like song

As it blows through the trees and the birds sing along

Is the sky bluer today for some reason?

Perhaps it seems so at the start of this season

Winter was rough at times, I must say

But the glistening snow brought beauty to each day

Spring always looks like hope on the horizon

Must be the the fresh air, I'm just realizing

But anyway I thought I'd just say hello

Thank you again for the fireflies that glow

I appreciate the feeling of the sun on my face

You are the Creator of such a wonderful place

The Cure

JOHN HENRY JOWETT was an Anglican Missionary and Author who lived 1787-1855. He worked in Malta, Syria, and Palestine.
L

"Gratitude is a vaccine, an antitoxin, and an antiseptic."

THE CURE

Coughing regrets, wheezing past pain

Bleeding tears from scars that remain

Limping on fears nothing will heal

Wounds that you dwell on that YOU choose to feel

A dose of gratitude, the wonder drug

Is a cure, yes it is, for the woe is me bug

If you walk into darkness just turn on the light

The cure is the blessings that pop into sight

As I Paint My Picture

JOHN HENRY JOWETT was an Anglican Missionary and Author who lived 1787-1855. He worked in Malta, Syria, and Palestine.

"Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and passion. Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception. Faith without thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude. Every virtue divorced from thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road."

AS I PAINT MY PICTURE

How often I have walked my day with a chip on my shoulder

Too often I have entertained regrets as I grow older

So often I have found a way to paint my world black

Far too many times I lived for looking back

Then just like a bolt of lightening reality strikes my thoughts

So often I'd been thankful for the many breaks I caught

Most people in my life brought me joy instead of pain

So many blessings to count each day that will remain

The sun will be there tomorrow, this fact I choose know

The dark nights will be sprinkled with the brightest stars aglow

Flowers will rise above any weeds that dare to grow

Refreshing it will be with the cool winds that blow

Blue skies will replace the memories that feed my regrets

Children's laughter will be a reason for the joy life begets

Accomplishments I remember will erase my youthful errors

And I know along with my loved ones, God still cares

As I paint my final picture during my twilight years

I will use the brightest colors replacing any lingering tears

Flowers will represent the gratitude that blossoms in my soul

A rainbow will depict my spirit, not the fact I'm growing old

Who Dat?

Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.

George Washington

WHO DAT?

He salutes the flag and speaks of unity

He is a cool president with vast immunity

He thinks he serves our country well

But his agenda is plummeting us into hell

He speaks of saving the poor

From the conniving rich outside their door

Look deeper at what he intends it to be

He was sent to break our economy

Like the tender stoking the fire

His fuel sends our debt higher and higher

He spends more than tax can possibly cover

As he continues his quest, a Socialist lover

He stands before the flags each day

Convincing he is with what he'll say

A poser in the truest form and style

He will pretend to be a patriot for a little while

Patriotism

PATRIOTISM

"True patriotism isn’t cheap. It’s about taking on a fair share of the burden of keeping America going."

Robert Reich

PATRIOTISM

A state of mind, it's not

Just a public face it should not be

It must not run from cold to hot

It is the truest reason for our liberty

A patriot will get chills

At any act of bravery

His pride will over-spill

At the condemnation of slavery

Patriotism is not just red, white, and blue

It is all human colors and faiths combined

It is the strongest feeling inside of you

To embrace your countrymen of every kind

Patriotism is the unbreakable will

To right our country's wrong

A patriotic heart is filled

With the magic potion that keeps us strong

It is a feeling meant to be shared

A common goal to celebrate

It is a culmination of those who cared

And have chosen pursuing love, not hate

Our Duty

In 1960 JFK was elected....he said this:

"We would like to live as we once lived but history will not permit it."

"Our acceptance must be that times change. Our memories are of that we once lived and hopefully cherish. Our lesson is that circumstances good and bad are created by our choices. Our assignment is to use our free will to make the right choices that will benefit the majority. Our duty is to stay involved and not become apathetic." M. Beatty

I'm White, Seeing Red, and Feeling Blue

Spiro Agnew who served as Vice-President under Richard Nixon said:

"Yippies, Hippies, Yahoos, Black Panthers, Lions and Tigers alike----I would swap the whole damn zoo for the kind of young Americans I saw in Vietnam."

I'M WHITE, SEEING RED, AND FEELING BLUE

The attention they would seek

When their time was at its peak

Permeated our tv screens

With outrageous, sometimes violent scenes

You must wonder who they are today

Now that yuppies and hippies have gone away

It is surely not a mystery

They had left their mark on history

Black panthers drove a racial wedge

Amid the goodness of Dr. Kings solemn pledge

Someday we would walk together

And color would not matter

Lives of icons we embraced

By assassin's bullets would be erased

JFK, Bobby, and Martin how

Would you see our country now?

That kind of leadership is rare at best

We continue to settle for less and less

With our treasury so overdrawn

Where has all the prosperity gone?

In the forties we were proud to fight

And understood a veteran's plight

Once patriots well supported

Today their troubles are under-reported

The attention that they garner

The far left loons that drag us under

Aren't they the hippies from yesteryear

Who demeaned the country that most held dear?

Black Panthers still divide us

Politicians override us

Half the population strives

While the other half just stays alive

Two cars in every garage, the hope

Now two welfare modes in life to cope

In darkness we must hide away

It's the only place we have to pray

But pray, I will and must

I still believe In God We Trust

Though knocked down I won't surrender to

The destruction of red, white, and blue

We the Little People

The primary goal of collectivism...of Socialism in Europe and contemporary Liberalism in America, is to enlarge government supervision of individual lives. This is done in the name of equality. People are to be conscripted into one large cohort, everyone equal, (although not equal in status or power to the governing class) in their status as wards of self-aggrandizing government.

George Will

WE THE LITTLE PEOPLE

See us all as little people

Equal in all ways

Equal to heed the laws that bind us

And to do what government says

See the government benefit

By the power they gain

When We the Little People

Are all who remain

Corruption

Personally, I don't think the slight corruption of a child manipulating his parents need escalate into the height of political corruption. It takes an evil mind to equate and justify such an escalation of manipulation into full blown corruption. M. Beatty

This is what SAUL ALINSKY had to say about CORRUPTION. He makes it sound like such a common thing, even acceptable.

"Life is a corrupting process from the time a child learns to play his mother off against his father in the politics of when to go to bed; he who fears corruption fears life."

CORRUPTION

In what evil minds is it respectable

Much less now acceptable

That simple manipulation should rise

To the heights of pure political corruption

It need not be a fact of life

To indulge in premeditated internal strife

In a move to induce

Our economic destruction

The commonality of government lies

Cover up and domestic spies

Yet half us us can't find a way to

See past their malevolent disguise

Corrupt the courts, corrupt the schools

Call fellow Americans racist fools

Division is among

This government's favorite tools

When we'll condone the parity, inviting mass polarity

Rise corruption in popularity

We the People will be the ones

Who lose prosperity

Corrupted Senate, corrupted House

Reward with lifetime terms the louts

Ensure the votes

Embrace the layabouts

Tax the workers, reward the shirkers

Socialism reigns in several versions

We the People are sheep

The government becomes the herders

Who would wish it would come to this

For better times we reminisce

When will everyone realize

Government corruption drove us off this cliff?

Vision

"Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others." Jonathon Swift

VISION

Shall we care to see or dare to see it

If your head's in the clouds, so be it

But I have made my decision

I choose to have some vision

Dream a little dream for me

Please tell me what the dreamers see

I'm one who believes that dreams come true

Fresh new visions are overdue

What becomes invisible to some is lost

Vital pieces overlooked and tossed

Catch a glimpse of what goes unseen

Calculate what others mean

Lend someone an ear one day

Listen intently to the things they say

The perfect moment may pass you by

If you let your vision escape your eye

Who Gets Caught

JONATHAN SWIFT

"Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps and hornets break through."

WHO GETS CAUGHT

Lawmakers attempt to cast a net

But who are the fish they tend to get?

Tiny people of no consequence remained

In the net they are detained

The big and powerful go bursting through

Or grease a palm, that's what they do

Sleazy crooks can slip away

Cunning lawyers will have their say

Who is caught, does it matter not?

The innocent, there are a lot

Why some get through, who knows?

Beating the system is how it goes

Well Put

JONATHAN SWIFT was a Irish writer, satirist, poet, essayist. It seems he wrote everything. And quite an interesting fellow was he.

"Proper words in proper places make the true definition of style."

WELL PUT

Say what? You say.

Perhaps it is just the way you say it.

Soothing words said into an ear

Nose to nose in anger spray it

Insinuate, demonstrate, accentuate, and intimate

Articulate and interrogate

Is it what is said? No wait!

It is how it's said, I speculate

It is proper words in a certain place

Not bitter words at at random

Best said words are face to face

Not cold text running rampant

Her Independence

HER INDEPENDENCE

How desperate she was in her well chosen dress

Only fifteen, her life is a mess

Showing her thighs and her pink perky breasts

She would ask for thirty but knew she'd take less

Drawn by the mystery freedom could bring

How dare they say no about a nose piercing ring

Her parents had forbidden just too many things

All the others she knew were adorned with such bling

One night in the dark she would tiptoe away

She was almost grown, so what could they say

She hitchhiked to a city so far away

And was turned out by a pimp the very next day

So the nose ring glitters in the overhead streetlight

Second hand stilettos added inches to her height

She's going to feel old and tired after a long busy night

It crosses her mind , yeah, her parents were right

Another young girl asleep on a table

Some tried to rescue her, no one was able

The last appointment she made had proved to be fatal

Just fifteen years ago she was safe in her cradle

The Dark Hole

The Dark Hole

Where are all the ladders?

Who took the rope?

Am I to linger down here

How am I to cope?

Whoever pushed me down here

It doesn't really matter

But who took my rope?

Who took my ladder?

Someone to share my burdens

I don't need to see

With just a rope or a ladder

I can get myself free

Ah, but what are all these faces

Staring from above me?

Whose voices are these

Proclaiming to love me?

To hell with the ladder

To hell with the rope

I'm about to be lifted

By the loving hands of hope

Her Angel

"When it comes to a spiritual person they become more noticeable by their actions." Jim Dixon

HER ANGEL

Sullen and hopeless she sat and stared

Back at a world that hadn't cared

Although she made not a single demand

A loving stranger touched her hand

He looked into her eyes to see

A break in her reality

What caused this lady to succumb

To this helpless mass that she's become?

He hugged her and he wiped her tear

Whispered words she needed to hear

Stroked her hair and planted a kiss

On the forehead of this falling miss

There, that day, she sat and prayed

Amid the shattered dreams she carefully laid

Someone had betrayed her trust

What she called love was another's lust

An angel answered her prayers that day

And wiped the salty tears away

She had not seen him but could feel him there

And in a fleeting moment she became aware

She had let the devil into her life

Yearning to become a wife

Now with a spiritual act and words unspoken

The evil spell had now been broken

In a miraculous moment of regained respect

She got to her feet to stand erect

As her angel left he waved and smiled

She had the courage to walk another mile

Waste

"You can’t change who you are, but you can change what you have in your head, you can refresh what you’re thinking about, you can put some fresh air in your brain."

Ernesto Bertarelli

WASTE

Such stale air can permeate

An idle mind in an idle state

Who can justify a life to waste

Because of dreams that go un-chased?

Hidden Miracles

The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower, share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another’s, smile at someone and receive a smile in return, are to me continual spiritual exercises.

Leo Buscaglia American Author 1924-1998

HIDDEN MIRACLES

A baby born from a moment free

Found beneath a majestic tree

A stolen kiss within the shade

Who knows what the union of two have made

Who is to know what a mind will know

Within the child that we watch grow?

Is the key to peace hidden inside his soul

As we watch this child's life unfold?

Ratings

JOSHUA CHAMBERLAIN

"The power of noble deeds is to be preserved and passed on to the future."

RATINGS

While the media touts the tragedies

Shows photos of the sinister crooks

Runs video of a bank robbery

And dwells on what they took

The pedifile coach is headlines

As is the teacher pregnant by her student

Someone brings a gun to school

The reports say he was dared to do it

Comes there now a noble deed

That should cause us to be astounded

But it didn't make the news today

Because some low life was surrounded

Perhaps if goodness was of more interest

And tv ratings would rise

We would see more positive in the news

Than the evil we should despise

We Can Still Feel the Love

WE CAN STILL FEEL THE LOVE

Did it not feel good

When we were united

Flags flew like they should

People were excited

Fire engines led the parades

Down Main Street on holidays

Uniforms with golden braids

Adorned flag carrying vets, bands played

Patriotic songs, hands saluted or covered the heart

Nothing could tear our citizens apart

Tragedies brought tears

Terrorism drove our fears

But after the most devastating act of all

As America watched the towers fall

We were compelled to grasp for hope

And in the love for one another this country learned to cope

Too many were lost

Too steep was the cost

When hijacked planes swooped down from above

But it also proved we can still feel the love

That Boy

THAT BOY

I knew that little boy

Such a little imp

It is such a sad story

How he got that limp

He legs carried him to medals

He wore around his neck

The footballs he caught

Earned him the fan's respect

He had a heart for his country

Was from a long line of vets

He sits at the window in his wheelchair

How soon people forget

Remember

"Of what use is a memory of facts, if not to serve as an example of good and evil."

Alfred de Vigny French Poet 1797-1863

REMEMBER

We can't erase the images that caused such pain

But if we could, what would be gained?

The difference between pleasure and angst

Would be forever lost in the dust of the past

Just how can we learn to feel?

What would drive our need to heal?

If devastation was so easily swept away

With the receding waters into the bay

He Plays the Game

"Being brilliant is no great feat if you respect nothing."

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

German writer 1749-1773

HE PLAYS THE GAME

Brilliant? They say

And he overcame

A bastard and not of one race or the other

Absent father, was raised by his mother

Respect? Is it deserved?

Using his minority status, self served!

Just mediocre at best with his knowledge

But considered uprising as a young man post-college

A whore to a billionaire with political aspirations

A puppet to an agenda to control legislation

Respect for others is absolutely missing

Can he respect himself amid the asses he's kissing?

Power

"What feeds the ocean that builds a wave so powerful as to erode the shore and take it in pieces back into its depths? What feeds a government that does the same to its people?"

Marian Beatty

Power Quotes

The quote is from MIKE PENCE, American Politician born 1959.

"Our Founders insisted that protecting the state’s power to govern themselves was vital to limit the power of Washington and preserve freedom."

"Unfortunately, the states have been looking to the Feds to get them over too many humps. More unfortunately, this practice has fed the Feds more power." Marian Beatty

"POWER translates into authority and when the people of a Republic grant authority (power) to a representative they expect that person do just that...REPRESENT!" Jim Dixon

"Good intentions can run amuck when power becomes mixed with money and the possibility of gaining even more power." Jim Dixon

"Power is like that first potato chip where one taste leads us to eating the whole bag. Soon we are over weight and suffering from all kinds of physical ailments as a result of our gluttony." Jim Dixon

Our Former Strength, Gone

The quote is from MIKE PENCE, American Politician born 1959.

"Power is an instrument of fatal consequence. It is confined no more readily than quicksilver, and escapes good intentions as easily as air flows through mesh."

OUR FORMER STRENGTH, GONE

Powerful as we had been in the eyes of the world

Respect rose in unison as the stars and stripes unfurled

Those who tried to oppose us became the ones defeated

Bold attacks like Pearl Harbor will never be repeated

Strong as we had been with leaders who would not back down

Admirals and generals with courage in the war room all around

Fear rose up in the enemy when our boots were on the ground

Has it come to but a whisper, our most intimidating sound?

As we hail a yellow leader who breaks bread with all the stars

Plays a round of golf or two, barely breaking par

He won't put the blame on terrorist for who knows whatever reason

Media will protect him for his wanton acts of treason

Weak now that we are in the eyes of the world

Stars and stripes are burned the moment they're unfurled

Christianity becomes a target and Jihad a fact of life

Our leaders protect the very ones who cause the world strife

Executive priority is to cover up the blunders that prevail

Lies escape their spokesmen each time that they exhale

Weak is our economy, in size our government grows

How much more can we be regulated? Anybody knows

Half of our population survive on public doles

Taxation and unemployment have put the middle class in holes

Obamacare has our heath care as critical at best

The war on Christianity leaves fewer of us blessed

Indoctrination permeates our youth in all our schools

But what the heck the liberal set think our president is cool

The rise of terror grows and the president denies it

Let's hand him one big kite and encourage him to fly it

Progressivism

The following quote is from JOHN ADAMS,.

"Government is instituted for the common good, for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people, and not for profit, honor, and private interest of any one man, family or class of men; therefore, the people alone have incontestable, unalienable and indefensible right to institute government, and reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity and happiness requires it."

PROGRESSIVISM

Behold a government created by our forefathers

To be made up of those elected

Who will serve our inalienable rights

With the laws that WE selected

They would see to our protection

Safety and prosperity

Uphold the freedom of our speech

With the utmost of integrity

There came the so called representatives

For their profit have become the whore

Of special interest groups

Who come knocking at their door

They settle in for life

Voting themselves the cushy perks

Why can't the people see

They make the voters look like jerks

Now why not throw in a so-called leader

With his socialistic tendencies

Who with promises of a life
of welfare

Will control their entities

Dancing at the end of strings

Controlled by rich and powerful men

Are the president and his minions

Charged to do our economy in

It all comes down to reality

That if the pursuit of happiness has become

People wallowing in self imposed poverty

Have let this government run

They run away with our liberty

As they take from those who dare to earn

And purposely break our economy

Roasting their marshmallows as we burn

The Subject...Ovid

"Happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind, and has given up worrying once and for all." Ovid

THINK POSITIVE?

I doubt if it is possible

But miracles do exist

If only it could be probable

I never could resist

I'd erase my mind of worry

Trust that things will go my way,

But my peaceful thoughts would scurry

And give me twice the angst for days

~~

"Happy are those who dare courageously to defend what they love." Ovid

ONE VOICE

I'm a grizzly bear with a cub

I keep him close to me

I'm a patriot with a club

Who defends my liberty

I am a clown with a painted smile

Who could turn immediately to rage

When a terrorist invades my country

In violent, underhanded ways

I am first and foremost an American

Who will sing our anthem right on cue

I salute our symbol, our beloved flag

I bleed freely red, white, and blue

I am happy with my choice

To love God and fellow man

And I am but one single voice

Please join me if you can

~~

"In our leisure we reveal what kind of people we are." Ovid

"Do you really want to know what I'm about? Sit right down for a leisurely chat and open any subject. I love, I live to share!"  M. Beatty

The Odd Mom

"Yes, Mother, I can see you are flawed. You have not hidden it. That is your greatest gift to me."

Alice Walker

THE ODD MOM

There were times that you embarrassed me

Some personally, some indirect

But my memories continue to be

Mostly pleasing I suspect

So you liked to take me out for pie

As I wore my band uniform

I felt so exposed that I could die

In that outfit I had worn

You tried to share your fashion sense

And presented to me with pride

The most ridiculous pair of clown pants

In lime green and orange stripes

It didn't really occur to you

That such garb was meant to be

Worn by disco dancers

And by pimps on crime tv

But being the dutiful daughter

I wore them to the dance

I wasn't drawn and quartered

But all had their share of laughs

Then I always must remember

How cool our friends thought you were

With the top down in December

To pay off a bet that had occurred

You had the greatest records

And spun them at the hop

You raced your souped up '57 Ford

Loudly down the block

Mom, you always kept us wondering

What kind of antics you'd show next

Though embarrassing moments brought suffering

In my life there are no regrets

It turns out my friends adored you

And wanted you for their own

The teenaged days that I lived through

I've clearly not outgrown

No one is born to perfection

And my life was quite askew

But now I look at my reflection

And who I'm seeing now is you

I've acquired all your idiosyncrasies

And your bold infectious ways

From a lifetime of played out fantasies

Which made growing up the good old days

What Can I Say?

WHAT CAN I SAY?

The book of parenthood is never closed

There is never a story that says "the end"

In what world is it supposed

In time the sadness will ebb and when?

The loss is an unnatural act

The pain may slightly subside

But the memories keep coming back

There is never a place to hide

What can I say to a parent at such a loss

That true agony has been compiled

Most will never experience the bitter cost

To a parent who has lost a child

There are never any appropriate words

That can be said by me or you

True sympathy can't come in verbs

Sometimes only a sincere hug will do

Though they yearn inside for closure

A light in the tunnel they will never see

At any inadvertent exposure

Old scars will open up to bleed

The Reality of War

Captain Max Lerner said in an article, “all I have to do is think of my own Mother and sisters and the way they felt every time the doorbell rang.”

THE REALITY OF WAR

Off to war they have gone

Sons and daughters wave "So long!"

They all expect to return

But their parents' lives will crash and burn

What hell could ever bring

Is the doorbell that would ring

The foreign skirmish had set in stone tonight

Their beloved children aren't coming home alive

It is only a fact of war

Lives are taken and others torn

The anguish becomes to move on

In a life that has become far too long

A Morher's Loss

"The human heart does not stay away too long from that which hurt it most. There is a return journey to anguish that few of us are released from making."

Lillian Smith American Novelist 1897-1966

A MOTHER'S LOSS

Once a hapless little egg

Had made it journey only to be joined

By a seed of love on its final leg

To wherever it was going

Destiny was forever changed

My life would never be my own again

I was to be forever chained

To that little life from way back when

It is the severed string that brings the pain

When her child embarks to a place unknown

She thinks it will never be the same again

Once her little one is now on his own

Though he grew and found a brand new life

And I was sent to find my own again

He embraced a journey and a loving wife

And left me with memories from way back when

But alas, I have returned

To the journey he has offered to share

There is one thing I have learned

As a mother I'm a millionaire

When Life Became a Prison

The French Novelist Honore de Balzae (1799-1850) said that “a mother who is really a mother is never free.”

WHEN LIFE BECAME A PRISON

That new life inside of me

Had brought new responsibility

Now life would never be my own again

Until my baby was grown...and then

I felt every little bump and bruise

His losses and his teenaged blues

When he fell in love I felt his joy

And at the birth of his new baby boy

Yes it is true I will never be free again

But though chains would bind me I remember when

Before I ever knew the sheer overtaking

Of a new life we were making

When my life became a prison

With that little life I was given

I never thought that being bridled

Could be euphoria never rivaled

He is always and forever to be in my heart and on my mind

The truest form of love could never be denied

I was to have my purpose yet defined

When that little life I held became part of mine

The Motherhood Carousel

Another definition of Mother besides a women in relation with a child is “something that gives rise to something else.”

THE MOTHERHOOD CAROUSEL

From the moment of conception comes a glow

That only other mothers seem to know

It is like a miracle has taken over

An unexplained tingling begins all over

As that precious new life begins to grow

The tenacity of being a mother we know too well

Harm our child and one will confront the wrath of hell

Amid the tenderness inside,

The unconditional love, and yes the pride

Forever riding on a motherhood carousel

A Patriot's Promise

Winston Churchill:

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

A PATRIOT'S PROMISE

We will feel the freedom in our prideful hearts

From our honor and hope our liberty starts

"It is our duty!" the patriots cry

Saluting our flag as it's carried by

Have mercy someday upon our souls

As patriots we have fulfilled our roles

It was our truth that caused justice to prevail

Courage the reason we refused to fail

Truth and Justice

HONOR

You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.

Aristotle

TRUTH AND JUSTICE

Sit upon a steed of white

Waving the flag of honor high

Let loose the doves in freedom's flight

Your truth and courage in great supply

Armed with honesty a battle righteous

Takes place to cause the liars' fall

To overtake us, how dare they try us

When truth and justice propels us all

My Questions

James Madison. Born 1751 and died 1836.

The people are the only legitimate foundation of power, and it is from them that the Constitutional Charter, under which several branches of government hold their power is derived.

MY QUESTIONS

Where have all the people gone?

Why are the Constitutionalists few?

When will more stand to break the power

The government has gained over you?

How do people explain their apathy?

Since when has it been ok to take

The fruits of the labor of our fellow man?

Get off your duffs for Heaven's sake!

Can our constitution still support us

As our government erases her meaning?

What are we doing as The White House takes charge?

Don't we find the growing laws and regulations demeaning?

For those of us who resent the intrusion

Of growing government into our affairs

We'll continue fighting for the rights we were promised

There are still patriots who passionately care

Adapt

The quote is from MOHAMMAD ALI JINNAH. He was a politician in Pakistan who lived 1876-1948.

You have to stand guard over the development and maintenance of Islamic democracy, Islamic social justice, the equality of manhood on your own soil.

ADAPT

Don't bring it here, your politics

Leave it behind from where you fled

Live here, accept our way

We won't bow to what Allah has said

This, after all is a Christian society

Your intrusion, I find it quite odd

You are welcome to stay if you don't question our way

And most of all don't dis our God!

A Sad Goodbye

Ronald Reagan:

One way to make sure crime doesn’t pay would be to let the government run it.

A SAD GOODBYE

Once the finest restaurant

Where the tastiest steaks were found

We are now a greasy burger joint

With the poorest meat that's ground

We once had fine young waiters

With eyes forward toward success

Now old burger flippers

Are content to live in all the mess

Once a country with values

And patriotic pride

We find that half the citizens

Are just looking for a ride

Once with leaders like George and Abe

And fine folks who we elected

Our country is run by thieves and perverts

We blindly have selected

I fear someday I will open the paper

And right there above the crease

Is our country's obituary

May she finally rest in peace

Let's Dance

One can be a brother only in something. Where there is no tie that binds men, men are not united but merely lined up.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

French Pilot & Author 1900-1944

LET'S DANCE

Are we to be caught up in a line

Always a step ahead, or two behind

Because we are all caught up

In just whatever is on our individual minds?

Can't we gather in a circle

Red, yellow, dark, and fair

Planning like destinations

We'll face together there
?

Will we continue our journey hand in hand

No longer showing teeth and claws

Stepping forward in loving unison

To stand up for one like cause?

Can we bury all our differences

And form a new romance

Make life a celebration

And say to one and all "Let's dance"?

Why?

WILLIAM HAZLITT, the English Critic.

"The love of liberty is the love of others; the love of power is the love of ourselves."

"The life of liberty is such a Cumbaya event, I find it hard to understand why only half of us are patriots who will throw down over our right to retain it." Marian Beatty

"Those who love liberty want freedom for all (generally) and so it shows that you are not only thinking of just yourself but other people." Sharon Krogman

"Perhaps the fact that we who love liberty want it for all is our Achilles heal...we resort to our power to "impose" it on the world." Marian Beatty

"Our Achilles heel is complacency. Freedom is comfortable and in our comfort our willingness to appreciate it and fight for it is limited to only those who care enough to sacrifice what is necessary to keep it. All the sacrifices these days are on the shoulders of our military. There are a few select patriots but not enough to offset those who prefer government dependency.". James Dixon

WHY?

We sing the moving songs around the campfire

We wave the flag proudly every Forth of July

We bless the bounty before us on Thanksgiving

But we don't all resist the  evil, I wonder why?

Why do some bemoan the success of all the others?

How can some resort to taking at every curve?

The fact that takers rue the self sustaining hand that feeds them

Continues to sicken me and hit my tender nerve

The ones who let the power own them for the right to bread and water

And make the choice to leave their liberty behind them

Will drag the patriots down the road to social justice

And sentence us all to the proverbial chains that bind them

Acceptance of Deception

"Deception that goes without consequence becomes a way of life if it is there we submit to linger."

Marian Beatty

"I don't know if deception is an art or not...there isn't anything artful about deceiving which is in fact an action that involves lying and fraud, a pure form of trickery and treachery. I guess it becomes an art if you benefit or make personal gain as a result of a creative way to hide or destroy the truth."

"We hear something long enough and it becomes a truth in our own minds and thus in the end we all know so much which is just not so. Just think...all these years I believed that I could go blind by masterbating!"

James Dixon

"Sometimes it’s necessary to be critical and even to come off as negative is ok. Deception is no laughing matter and there’s no way to spin it to make it look good!"

Sharon Krogman

Life & Lies

Life is the art of being well deceived; and in order that the deception may succeed it must be habitual and uninterrupted.

William Hazlitt English Critic 1778-1830

LIFE & LIES

Since our life's inception

We've submitted to deception

With little or no reflection

We accept our daily injection

Led through our mindless days

Lies told are facts that stay

It becomes our habitual way

In deception we are thrown to play

They lie to explain the evil

To cover the upheaval

If life is ever real

It's just for moments we can steal

They lie to always convince you

And vow to recompense you

Will truth ever come to the rescue?

And dishonesty discontinue?

With the media as co-conspirators

And half the country paid inferiors

Like a deadly boa constrictor

They tend to squeeze each bold inquisitor

What confuses me the most

Is we accept our daily dose

From politicians we won't expose

They continue with their control

Government Deception

HERACLITUS, the Greek Philosopher.

"Justice will take over fabrication of lies and false witnesses."

GOVERNMENT DECEPTION

The government sees We the People expendable

And amid their lies they are less than dependable

Seems to me they would become confused

With all the lies they tend to use

They are living in a house of cards

And should we blow it will come down hard

Just how much will it take until we're convinced

And get locked into our common sense?

Government deception is the root of evil

We live condemned in economic upheaval

They stretch the truth until it's abused

And it is we who pay for the lies they used

Will justice come and finally prevail

For those we elected and our trust they failed?

Will the lies boil over and eventually spill

To expose the traitors on Capitol Hill

Complacency

I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.

Abe Lincoln

COMPLACENCY

How did you like your koolaide today?

Is it something you use to delay your decisions?

If you refuse to drink it will it force you to learn?

Are you caught up in life's inhibitions?

Do you truly enjoy being led by your hand

Connected to politicians who say they know best?

Stuck in a vacuum of minimal knowledge

Just going along with the rest

Is it easier to stay plugged in to yesterday's facts

As you fail to expand your own mind?

You are so cozy in familiarity, it is how you adapt

It's much easier to be the following kind

So, go drink your koolaide and bury your head

Let those with ambition take control

Don't even bother getting out of your bed

Just sit in the audience rather taking a role

CONTROL

Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream.

Khalil Gibran

CONTROL

Skipping around the past in childlike glee

Or viewing it all as torturous memories

Whatever you see in mind's time machine

Should never alter whatever future you dream

Today's decisions when all is said and done

Are tidbits of yesterday that has only just begun

It is really just a continuum of a lifetime of things

And you are the puppeteer controlling the strings
