The Future of Our Republic
It's a damaged land of heartache now
Where Motown records made its name
Abandoned buildings where rats now prowl
And have made it their domain
Those who stayed are unemployed
It has become a way of life
They sit on crumbling porches
Reliving each day in strife
The gangs are armed and deadly
They own the neighborhoods
The streets at night unfriendly
The boundaries understood
Fat cat progressives have been in power
For more than fifty years
In champaign they could shower
Their concern so insincere
Once a thriving auto town
Detroit is now in decay
America will follow
If Obama has his way
