One Band of Freedom Fighters
As we gleefully greet another Independence Day
With parades, fireworks, and celebration
Let us take a moment so we may say
A few words of appreciation.
Countless lives were lost to insure liberty
While there were protesters carrying signs
One group that means a lot to me
Is one they called The Fine Nine
In The Nam they gave it all one day
Saving others from the wounds of war
It's for them and countless others I pray
Who took their oath and swore
They swore to fight for their county's good
And left families home and waiting
It's for people like them it should be understood
They are our reason for
celebrating
The close knit group of hearty men
Who were the first aide providers
Left their souls where war had been
That one band of freedom fighters
