"Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves." D. H. Lawerence (1885-1938) English novelist, poet, painter, playwright
This quote is poetry within itself. So sadly true.
PROGRESS?
Men fought for liberty with blood and guns
Thankfully the patriots won
And time slipped by and by and by
Generations of patriots lived and died
Children of patriots in freedom flourished
In assets they thrived as they were nourished
More time slipped by and by and by
Children of patriots lived and died
All too apathetic they began to be
Took for granted their liberty
Now all the patriots had lived and died
Freedom is sadly slipping by
