Oz, the All and Powerful

Stewart Udall saw it coming years ago..."We have, I fear, confused power with greatness."

I tend to think that it is just the opposite in the Obama era. I think Obama is almost embarrassed by this country's power and seems apologetic for it.

Perhaps our power was confused for greatness before the Obama administration. Some presidents actually used it to bully the world. Most used it to intimidate the world. The question is, does our power bring respect, fear, or disdain? Are we using it for good or for self serving intimidation?

OZ, THE ALL AND POWERFUL

Are we Atlas?

We carry the world on our shoulders

Are we all the strength we advertise

With our weapons and our soldiers?

We are looked upon as peace keepers

But are we really just assassins?

Called upon by nations intimidated

By terror driven factions?

Have we simply lost our edge

And become the weak and sorrowful

Just like the little man behind the curtain

Oz, the all and powerful?
