The Battle In Life

"The mind is it's own place and in itself, can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven." John Milton"

THE BATTLE IN LIFE

In our existence of creativity

Bold hope or negativity

Life goes on explicitly

With either purpose or mere naivety

Our mind plays tricks and wanders

To places beyond the clear blue yonder

And will leave us all to ponder

When to hate or grow much fonder

It is within our minds that our choices

Give way to distant voices

Angels and devils making noises

While we battle our neurosis

All in all it is our dilemma to solve

Being aware of past indiscretions to resolve

Before all goodness within dissolves

And crushes all hope that could evolve

Will we march with saints to virtue?

Or be thrust to hell's inferno?

Will our zest for life be overdone

Or a return to innocence, a worthy one?

Leader?

"Leaders establish the vision for the future and set the strategy for getting there." John P. Kotter.

LEADER?

It appears that we are lost

Leader show us where we are

We have pleaded for your answer

How did we go astray this far

Once a powerful nation

Once respected throughout the world

Now we are set for total damnation

Because our leader's head is filled with squirrels

It won't be long until we are defeated

By the terrorist bent on destruction

Is it really true we can be beaten

Because our leader has no gumption?

Time may no longer be on our side

As again to the links our leader goes

Is it there he runs to hide

As the pressure cooker blows?

A King

Johnathan Turley  a law professor at George Washington university...

"Our system is changing and (Congress) is the one branch that must act if we are to reverse these changes. We are seeing the emergence of a different model of government, a model long ago rejected by the framers....A dominate presidency has occurred with very little congressional opposition, indeed, when president OBAMA pledged to circumvent congress, he received rapturous applause from the very body that he was proposing to make practically irrelevant. Now many members are contesting the right of this institution to even be heard in federal court...This body is moving from self-loathing to self destruction in a system that is in crises. The presidents pledge to effectively govern alone is alarming, and what is most alarming is his ability to fulfill that pledge. When a president can govern alone, he can become a government unto himself, which is precisely the danger the framers sought to avoid."

A KING

Three powerful, independent branches

Meant to balance our awesome power

In just two terms under Obama

Our system has grown sour

An apathetic We the People

Let his power grow

Being  absolutely ignorant

Of the things we need to know

An historic first black president

A disappointment as our leader

This annoited man of hope

Has become our power's bleeder

He has circumvented congress

Thumbed his nose at the Supremes

He vacations more than anyone

And golfs too much, it seems

The rest of the world is either laughing

Or afraid they've lost a friend

Our enemies run rampant

With terror we can't defend

I guess we'll no longer matter

As now freedom no longer rings

Now Obama is no longer president

And is a self-appointed king

DroneFingers

Oz, the All and Powerful

Stewart Udall saw it coming years ago..."We have, I fear, confused power with greatness."

I tend to think that it is just the opposite in the Obama era. I think Obama is almost embarrassed by this country's power and seems apologetic for it.

Perhaps our power was confused for greatness before the Obama administration. Some presidents actually used it to bully the world. Most used it to intimidate the world. The question is, does our power bring respect, fear, or disdain? Are we using it for good or for self serving intimidation?

OZ, THE ALL AND POWERFUL

Are we Atlas?

We carry the world on our shoulders

Are we all the strength we advertise

With our weapons and our soldiers?

We are looked upon as peace keepers

But are we really just assassins?

Called upon by nations intimidated

By terror driven factions?

Have we simply lost our edge

And become the weak and sorrowful

Just like the little man behind the curtain

Oz, the all and powerful?

Nowhere in Between

"Pure and complete sorrow is as impossible as pure and complete joy." Leo Tolstoy from WAR AND PEACE

NOWHERE IN BETWEEN

I cannot cry my cleansing tears

I cannot taste my purest sorrow

Because you are gone, cry I should do

But it makes me happy just to think of you

Laugh as hard as I wish I could

Thinking of our happiest days, I think I should

But the purest of joy I will no longer see

Because someone I love can no longer be

I have to be somewhere in life it seems

But there is nowhere left in between

First we were there, now you are gone

Away from the middle I move along

Words From Devils

"Sons of Islam everywhere, the jihad is a duty...to establish the rule of Allah on earth and to liberate your countries and yourselves from America's domination and its Zionist allies, it is your battle...either victory or martyrdom." Ahmed Yassim

WORDS FROM DEVILS

Spill the blood of The Infidels, they say

Strap on your sacrificial bombs and keep the evil west at bay

Eradicate the Christians, eliminate the Jews

Off with their heads on the evening news

Spill the blood here then spill it there

The Americans know what's happening and where

But the question they cannot answer is when

Our Allah says we must do them in

Spill their blood, spill ours too

As we will be rewarded for the murders we do

We are Al-Qaida, we are ISIS

We are your worse nightmare, your next crisis

Exceptional

"All the stories and descriptions of that time without exception peak only of patriotism, self sacrifice, despair, grief, and heroism of the Russians. But in reality it was not like that...The majority of the people paid no attention to the general course of events but were influenced only by their immediate personal interest." Leo Tolstoy from War and Peace

EXCEPTIONAL

Sit thee in your modest home

Eating yet another meal of beans and rice

Thinking that you're lucky not to be an exception

And all you need to do is just play nice

Go about your days as directed and mandated

Your weary breath is your sound, not your voice

Doing what your government directed

Because it is plainly your only choice

Or live within a free society

Where exceptionalism is your pride and joy

Living by the valid constitution

Our ancestors chose to employ

Decay

"Harmony makes small things grow, lack of it makes great things decay." Sallut

DECAY

There was a great forest in Optimalville

Where people could hike, camp, and do as you please

It was an escape from the rat race and still

The rats found their way into our oasis of trees

They littered and lit fires, they consummated desires

And left the beauty in a state of decay

Our beautiful forest now part of an empire

Where peace and harmony are no longer in play

Coming Back

"The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it." Henry David

COMING BACK

When looking back on your life's transgressions

The costs of which haunt you eerily

There was a price for all your indiscretions

And you've realized you paid dearly

Loved ones left you in disgust

From weakness you should not defend

At the time you felt a major rush

But eventually it did you in

If in God's grace you were reprieved

And you finally found your way

For the life you thought lost that was retrieved

Be grateful in the prayers you say

The Insanity of it All

"When we remember that we are all mad, the mysteries disappears and life stands explained."

THE INSANITY OF IT ALL

Mundane chores and busy days

Structured lives 'til a full moon phase

We'll run amuck from time to time

Say strange things that are on our minds

Feeling appalled at our  indiscretions

When our actions take us into strange directions

Fearing that we acted the fool

But feeling all the time "it's cool!"

Heeding what our wild side says

Forget propriety and romp instead

Proper manners bleed us dry

It's time to laugh until we cry

Life is not meant to be inane

Once we realize we are all insane

When good is boring, propriety bad

It's probably that which drove us mad

Full Circle

"In 1968, America was a wounded nation. The wounds were moral ones; the Vietnam war and three summers of inner city riots had inflicted then on the national soul, challenging Americans belief that they were uniquely noble and honorable people." Thurston Clarke

FULL CIRCLE

It is nothing new and I find it strange

That history itself had not brought change

Oppressed these days, the people, we

As we struggle to find some dignity

We have lost our face around the world

We're catching all the insults hurled

Yet our president remains stubbornly idle

A stance that is globally suicidal

As terror grips nations one by one

Peaceful existence has become undone

Racial division on our own shores

The unemployed scream for more

But it's nothing new, we never change

And we the people don't find it strange

That a life of terror is on the horizon

And domestic unrest is steadily rising

Terror

"But there's one thing we must be clear about: Terrorism is not the pursuit of legitimate goals by some sort of illegitimate means...whatever the murderers may be trying to achieve, creating a better world certainly isn't one of their goals...instead they are out to murder innocent people." Salman Rushdie

TERROR

Bomb us, maim us, spill our blood

In the name of Allah they said

The hostages eventually take a slug

Or in gruesome videos loose their heads

Overrun the middle east

Taking Christian cities by force

Dancing in celebration over the men deceased

Raping their women with no remorse

Death to Christians, death to Jews

Did Allah really want what extremists believe?

With stolen weapons that they use

They will leave no survivors to grieve

They are parasites who devour us silently

As they infiltrate our cities

They are bombers who emerge and kill us violently

They are millions with no pity

DroneFingers

No Time for Golf

"If you respond to terrorism by appeasement thinking somehow you can tame them then you are not playing with a full deck Mr. Obama." JTD

NO TIME FOR GOLF

They target you as you are sleeping

In tunnels they go creeping

There are bombs strapped tightly around their waists

Happy to die if you are erased

Infidels alive are the ultimate sin

It's their life's goal to do us in

Our daily progression is to live in fear

That they will cut our throats from ear to ear

Obama just golfs another round

While generals plead to double down

Why must our leader appease them?

It is paramount to treason

Starving children in the mountains dwell

Kidnapped women serve in a living hell

The men are tortured, shot and killed

Yet our president has not had his fill

It is time to stop avoiding this war

With terrorists knocking down our doors

Release the hawk from his peaceful cage

The time has come that we engage

Obama hear your generals' pleas

Terror's no longer just over seas

Put the woods and irons away

And vacation on some other day

Injustice

"Justice in the life and conduct of the state is possible ONLY as first it resides in the hearts and souls of citizens."

INJUSTICE

What great injustice has happened here

Within our civil social sphere

Did it touch your hearts to this degree

That violent reaction accompanies thee?

Ignore the truth, forget the reason

The actions have risen to higher treason

Who died tonight? What does it matter?

Will violence make it any better?

The world is round and has no sides

Yet people fall for vicious lies

Their lot in life of violence brings

That cross them once and someone hangs

What is in the hearts of some

That retribution will be done?

Without a trial, without the facts

Ignorance led them to vicious acts

DroneFingers

Truth

The Inheritance

"Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice." Lin Yutang

THE INHERITANCE

Can you picture a future for our survivors

Kept in line by an organizer

More policemen with anxious guns

Daring anyone to try to run

Our soldiers devoid of bleeding hearts

Set upon countries torn apart

It has become easy for them to shoot and kill

Indoctrinated beyond free will

Legal remedy a standing joke

It's been years since We the People spoke

It will be the world we left them, there is no denying

People will never live again, they are here for dying

DroneFingers

Sick

Lin Yutang..."Today we are afraid of simple words like goodness and mercy and kindness. We don't believe in good old values anymore... and that's why the world is sick."

SICK

Riots in the street

Blood at their feet

Rapes and murders a daily fare

Hatred brewing everywhere

Bombs are killing more innocents

In recent mid-east incidents

They beheaded an American hostage today

And shot several children along the way

The death of a black teen is a mere excuse

They say a bigot lit the fuse

The policeman had nowhere to turn?

Don't get the facts, just watch him burn

The headlines are filled with the world's unrest

Whatever happened to "Father Knows Best"?

"The Brady Bunch" were replaced with thugs

When bullets fly there are no hugs

Taking My Time

If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learned how to live. The secret of contentment is knowing how to enjoy what you have and to be able to lose all desire for things beyond your reach.

TAKING MY TIME

I spent about an hour last night

The breeze was gentle, the temperature right

I leaned back in my outside chair

Staring mindlessly into the air

Stars were winking down at me

Lightning bugs were blinking fancy and free

A few clouds wandered aimlessly by

There was a lot going in in my back yard's sky

I took the long way into town

So I could drive slowly and look around

A country bridge invited me

To just stop and look at what I'd see

The stream below it, I watched it flow

It must have had some place to go

A recent rain had her refreshed

That's why she hurried by, I guess

Housework could wait another day

That's what I heard my four dogs say

We walked awhile, an hour or two

Days like these, I'll steal a few

Blinded and Gagged

"Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organizes hatred." Jacques Bargun

BLINDED AND GAGGED

It has become quite impossible to speak our minds

As we are expected to wear our blinders

Our hands are tied, our thoughts are benign

The plan is to just be kinder

As intolerance of the diversity of lifestyle is wrong

Tolerance of the wrongs just can't be right

And though some opinions may seem strong

They are important to shed some light

When political correctness blinds our senses

And evil perpetuates in turn

The world will become a maze of fences

When mere opinions make us squirm

DroneFingers

Now Hear This!

"For all you super righteous assholes here are my thoughts on political correctness...It shuts us up, it's intellectual terrorism, it's ideological smear, causes us to lie without saying what we really think, it causes fruitful discussion to stop in its tracks, it destroys nations by turning the world upside down as it feeds to the most intolerant bastards on the planet. I refuse to bow to political correctness and if you expect it...kiss my ass!" JT Dixon

NOW HEAR THIS!

To all you righteous bastards here

Citizens and those we elect

I refuse your ideological smear

I will not be politically correct

I am free and, yes, I'll speak my mind

My opinions are my right to share

And if my remarks appear unkind

Kiss my ass, 'cause I don't care

If people have become so infantile

That my truth paralyzed them with pain

Being politically correct is not my style

It is really quite insane

So groups, put on your big boy pants

Get a grip, take it like a man

I'll continue with my righteous rants

Mainly because I can!

Adventures of the Heart

"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside wishes. Who looks inside finds infinite wisdom." Sereda Aleta Dailey from THE ORACLE OF POETIC WISDOM

ADVENTURES OF THE HEART

I see infinity across the sea

A better life keeps calling me

In the reflection of a full moon

Across the water, could I leave soon?

I see rainbows across the fields of grain

And wonder if out there adventures still remain

Can I step astride my favorite horse

And reach that rainbow with no remorse?

As high and wide as I can see

The purple mountains beacon me

Had I been as strong as my state of mind

I'd leave my rocking chair behind

Looking inward at my memories

My past accomplishments comfort me

I spent some time out on the sea

With favorite people to accompany me

I rode my horses fast and slow

And enjoyed the nature I got to know

I took a tram to mountains high

And mingled with the deep blue sky

A person need not disappear

To find a life they want so dear

It's been within them all the time

Had they trusted what they had in mind

I looked within to find the will

And satisfied what I could fulfill

I used my wisdom to pick and choose

The moments I'd refuse to lose

To Thine Own Self Be True

Buddha ..."It is better to conquer yourself than win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell."

TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Can we take on more than we can handle all by ourselves?

Will our own ideals be forsaken

Once the majority rises to express themselves

Could we have been mistaken?

Did we jump onto a bandwagon too soon?

The music blaring loud

All around there were people dancing

As the music drew a crowd

Is Satan a master musician

Who can play an alluring tune?

Did we fall for his conviction

And trust him way too soon?

If we'd tried harder just to know ourselves

And to ourselves been true

Perhaps we'd not be dancing around the devil

Because it was "the thing" to do

It Can Happen Here

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty." JFK

IT CAN HAPPEN HERE

So far behind us it will be hard to see

Will we remember liberty?

Will we once again feel the satisfaction

When we didn't hold back, when we took action?

A passive president concerned with green

And spreading income beyond our means

Cutting our forces, withdrawing support

We're behind the gates of a selfish fort

The world around us in chaos dies

Mounds of dead Christians on the mountain lies

The terrorists arrived and are allowed to stay

As another round of golf our leader plays

World peace is a priority, not

Freedom there will be all but forgotten

And what does our passive country have in store

When the terror invades our own crumbling shores?

Dawn to dusk

Gathering dust

Night's arrival

Mere survival

Colors bursting

Knowledge thirsting

Laugh and cry

Reaching for the sky

Purpose driven

Now this is living!

Peace

"We must become bigger than we have been: more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community." Haile Sillasi

PEACE

Peace is but a moment in time

A mere break while evil gains steam

It is a never ending battle to hold on to peace

We barely catch our breath, it seems

Morally we can't stand down against evil

It is not our option to cease

As long as terrorist have the world in their sights

The good must draw swords against this beast

Murder of innocents is not alright

Persecution of a people should not exist

And if we must, our only option may be war

As much as we prefer to resist

Peace is unfortunately something we earn

A way of life continually challenged by some

We can enjoy it for a moment in time

But the fight to retain it is never done

Depression

"Get away from the place that makes you feel comfortable with your depression. The reality is it's never as bad as the insanity you've created in your head." Ben Huh

DEPRESSION

Comfortable in the darkness

Resigned to sullen days

Accepting the existence of my daily mess

Beginning to know not another way

Bursts of mild euphoria

Forced humor in the mix

No one reads your story

Or hears the words upon your lips

Listening to them saying "suck it up!"

More easier said than done

Devoid of periods of any luck

Preferring the darkness over dawn

Sleep is the perfect escape

It shuts everybody out

It becomes hard for me to terminate

Another hour of doubt

My mind is stale, my body numb

But I take one step then another

For each happy moment I have clung

Why do I even bother?

It's true, life is meant to savor

If one can read the signs

But for now retreat is my only savior

Trapped firmly in this mind

THE NATURE OF IT ALL

"You can have an interesting story about a person living an interesting life. AND IF IT'S DONE WELL,that is just as engaging as the end of the world. A million people dying---we can't process. One person we can process." Patrick Rothfuss

THE NATURE OF IT ALL

It is sad but fairly easy

To say goodbye

As one at a time you see people die

I will mourn a bit and grieve

But deep inside, I know everyone must leave

When a tragedy unfolds

And people are lost, young and old

The shock and devastation brews

When it is many at a time we all must lose

The nature of it all proclaims

A funeral should have just one name

Encouraging songs of wildlife say

T'is  time to rise and shine your light

Refreshed from a long and peaceful night

There are chores and tasks that fill my time

Maybe shopping trips to spend my dime

The clearest inner thoughts to comfort me

The evening breeze is fresh and sweet

Darkness beacons me, its time to sleep

If Only We Knew

"The central task of education is to implant a will and facility for learning; it should produce not learned but learning people. The truly human society is a learning society, where grandparents, parents, and children are students together." Eric Hoffer

IF ONLY WE KNEW

Imagine a perfect world

Where education was in fashion

People who cared to know

And knowing was their passion

Imagine families in discussions

Around the dinner table

Where ideas and ideals are topics

There was truth instead of fables

Imagine if the schools

Taught fact instead of fiction

Instead of indoctrination

Forced liberal addiction

Imagine how much pride there would be

And the lack of sheer frustration

If an educated society

Lifted up our failing nation

If only we all knew

How freeing it is to know

If only we could destroy the dams

And let our knowledge flow

When Closed Minds Prevail

"To most of us nothing is so invisible as an unpleasant truth. Though it is held before our eyes, pushed under our noses, rammed down our throats...we know it not! The weakness of a soul is proportionate to the number of truths that must be kept from it." Eric Hoffer

WHEN CLOSED MINDS PREVAIL

Minds so narrow as to close out

What really happens all around

Is it that they refuse to see

What affects them all externally?

Life goes on as greater things surround us

Only with open minds does life really astound us

They will accept the 'facts' from a liberal school?

Never caring how their leaders rule?

We who care are the haters now

Craving change but don't know

Trapped in a country of engineered division

Left alone to our righteous decisions

Will any awaken before our liberty fails?

Before our coffins don their final nails?

Is the welfare state where we will exist?

Is it preferable to the freedom we'll miss?

Stand With Israel

" A world that did not lift a finger when Hitler was wiping out six million Jewish men, women, and children is now saying that the Jewish state of Israel will not survive if it does not come to terms with the Arabs. My feeling is that no one has the right and the competence to tell Israel what it has the right to do in order to survive. ON THE CONTRARY, it is Israel that can tell us what to do. It can tell us that WE SHALL NOT SURVIVE IF WE DO NOT CULTIVATE, AND CELEBRATE COURAGE IF WE CUDDLE TRAITORS AND DESERTERS, BARGIN WITH TERRORISTS, COURT ENEMIES, AND SCORN FRIENDS."...and that comes from Eric Hoffers book BEFORE THE SABBATH

STAND WITH ISRAEL

Scarred by persecution that was never right

Forced to defense, then an all out fight

Terrorized by intruders day and night

Stalking through tunnels, out of sight

Unlike our own current administration

Who lingers on passive contemplation

Our friends, Israel, an embattled nation

Chooses to act from battle stations

Had we been proud friends, faithful as before

We'd be understanding what Israel had in store

A past America would not be torn

About standing with Israel without question or scorn

They Just Don't See It

THEY JUST DON'T SEE IT

Fade too fast

Genocide,  the homicide that puts a blemish on a people

The young today

Too far away

In time to know just how it feels

Hitler is just a figure in a history book

Manson killed much fewer but gets the look

He was notorious in their time

Stalin and Hitler faded from their minds

It saddens me so the impact

Of such a vile tyrant's act

They are not feared as much today

As killers like OJ

The part of history that should be shared

Is the part that showed how people fared

Millions of Jews snuffed out

In these apathetic times it could happen now

Learn From Me

"I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death." Leonardo da Vinci

LEARN FROM ME

It may be small, my mind

In relation to my peers

By my heart is huge, I am kind

And I go where my conscience steers

As tiny as my mind may be

I use it very well

I purge the evil that I see

An in effigy send it straight to hell

I retain the good I gather

And share it faithfully

Divisive rhetoric doesn't matter

Compassionate I'd rather be

I wear my principles on my sleeve

And what I reap I sow

I'm sincere enough you can believe

What I have come to know

Too bad the politicians

Can't practice what I preach

Then there might be solutions

To the problems within our reach

The Attraction

Steven Pinker

"As long as your ideology identifies the main source of the worlds ills as a definable group, it opens up the world to genocide."

THE ATTRACTION

There comes a day when our own judgement

Is defined by what some others tell

And groups of the vulnerable in desperation or fear

Are ripe for what the ideologues sell

Be it politics, religion, or education

It becomes easy to fall in step

With cunning orators or guilt mongers

There's so much baloney we will accept

Unfortunately peace is far too subtle

Than passionate cries for war and death

And people are more moved by ire

Hate is so easy to express

We'll never tune in to watch flowers grow

Or cross the street for handshakes and hugs

Yet the turmoil remains an attraction

Followers multiply like bugs

The attraction is the euphoria

The smell of another's blood

And it's the aggressive who gather the forces

Rather than the idle who stand for love
